Budapest: Puszta Countryside Tour with Horse Show and Lunch

1. Budapest: Puszta Countryside Tour with Horse Show and Lunch

Your cultural adventure begins with pickup from your hotel in Budapest, then travels into the surrounding countryside towards Kecskemét. Enjoy a short sightseeing tour of this quaint Baroque city and admire the beautiful historic buildings that line the picturesque streets. Head into the heart of Puszta countryside on a cart to the next stop of the day, a small local farm. Upon arrival, enjoy a delicious slice of cheesecake accompanied by some Palinka, a traditional Hungarian schnapps. After your warm welcome, watch a fascinating horse show known as the Puszta 10 which sees 10 galloping horses being ridden by a herdsman. When the show is over, you can also ride a horse if you wish. The day ends with a traditional Hungarian 3-course meal of goulash, breaded chicken with roast pork and salad, and a sweet milk-pie with apricot jam. As you dine, listen to authentic country music from a live performer.

It was every bit as enjoyable as I expected.

We had booked an excursion to the horse show last year when we were on a Danube cruise, but it had to be cancelled because we were delayed. We booked this weekend in Budapest especially to go to the horse show and we were not disappointed. The skill of the horsemen is remarkable and the discipline shown by the horses, not forgetting the donkey, was truly amazing. It was good to be able to visit the stables afterwards and to see the other animals too.

This tour is definitely worth doing as you can see the beautiful landscape of Hungarian countryside. The horse show might be a little bit “touristic” but if you have children they will love it. The restaurant there is traditional and the food marvelous! Our tour guide was very helpful and did his best to have a nice excursion.

Amazing and very informative !!!

I went on the tour on Tuesday the 26th. Although I was the only one on the tour that day, I had an amazing time, my guide I had was very funny and absolutely full of information not only about the horses but about the surrounding town and Hungary as well. I fully recommend it! The lunch was delicious as well! :)

Fantastic!

Fantastic day. The bell music in the city of Kecskemet was unique, the guest welcome at the Horse Farm, the activities and the horse show were superb! Lunch at the beautiful restaurant was not only the most delicious meal, wine, and dessert, but plentiful and five stars rating!
