3. From Merida: Sotuta de Peón Horseback Tour with Cenote Swim
Experience a hacienda (ranch) like a real hacendado (landowner) on this horsebck riding trip from Merida to the Sotuta de Peón estate. Learn about the history of the ranch, admire the landscapes on a horseback ride, taste local foods, and refresh yourself with a swim in a cenote.
After pickup directly at your hotel, head towards the Hacienda of Sotuta de Peon, where you’ll start your guided horseback adventure. The hacienda is completely restored and is surrounded by lush, beautiful gardens that will take you back to the 19th century.
Once you arrive at the ranch, greet your horse for the day, hop on, and head out to the surroundings and the henequen fields. As you explore, learn about the history of this place and the process of the henequen.
Venture around the fields to experience nature closely, and go to the Dzul-Há cenote, where you can swim and cool off in its clear waters. Back at the main house of the ranch, enjoy a plate of typical snacks of the region before making your way back to Merida for drop-off.
