Venice: Traveling Opera in a Historic Palace on Grand Canal

2. Venice: Traveling Opera in a Historic Palace on Grand Canal

Experience Italian Opera in one of the most important Venetian-Gothic style palaces in Venice, Palazzo Barbarigo-Minotto. Within this historical venue, an innovative approach to opera has been conceived, with a formula that focuses on the interaction between the singers, the musicians, and the audience. This gives spectators the feeling of living Opera ‘from the inside’. This sensation is amplified by the clever 360-degree use of the ‘stage’ and by having the guests move through 3 different rooms within the Palazzo, one for each act of the show. The whole setting changes, not just the background. Reviving a tradition dating back to the late 1800s, this reimagining is brought to life by some of the finest lyrical voices, accompanied by a talented small group of strings and a piano: a virtuoso ensemble who performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world. Opera offered: • La Traviata - Melodrama in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi (Mon - Tue - Thu - Sat) • Il Barbiere di Siviglia - Light-hearted melodrama in two acts by Gioachino Rossini (Wed - Sun) • Rigoletto - Intense drama about love and vengeance by Giuseppe Verdi (Fri)

The moving opera was just amazing. Being close up to the singers was truly a unique experience. The changing of the rooms with no assigned seats was a bit of a cattle call but it did give you the opportunity to have better seats in some rooms than others. The palazzo and it’s rooms were beautiful and the candlelight added to the ambiance. We enjoyed it and would highly recommend it.

All I can say is WOW. From start to finish the experience was amazing. The singing and dancing was just brilliant and there was so many different genres and outfit changes that kept us entertained throughout the whole night. Utterly blown away and would highly recommend this, well worth the money. If I go back to Venice I will definitely be booking this show again, top notch

A different way to eperience opera. The singing isn't worldclass, but being so close gives a very different experience. Violetta -I saw La Traviata-dying right in front of your feet is certainly moving. If you love opera, go for it. If you have never been, a good introduction

Absolutely recommend this traveling opera. We had a wonderful evening! Also our teenager (13 years) had a great time.

Intimate, beautiful setting to see and hear this beautiful opera.
