Lisbon: Delicious Electric Bike Tour

4. Lisbon: Delicious Electric Bike Tour

This tour will focus on the most authentic neighborhoods, the perfect places to find traditional taverns and amazing restaurants. In Alfama (the oldest district in Lisbon), you’ll experience the real Lisbon with its charismatic (and intense) people, cats sleeping on windowsills, twisting streets and blind alleyways where the roofs almost touch each other. Going up the hill until Graça, you’ll find a breathtaking panoramic view at the famous Belvedere “Nossa Senhora do Monte”. After a moment of relaxation at the viewpoint, you'll start going down the hill to salute Mouraria, Lisbon’s most multi-ethnic neighborhood. Here you may find all types of restaurants because about a fifth of the population is from Asia, mainly from China, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. Now, the most important detail of this tour, the tasting experiences! You'll visit Lisbon’s greatest cafés and taverns, important landmarks of this city where you’ll enjoy some snacks and drinks. Get ready for delicious treats such as custard tarts, codfish cakes, bifana, ginja liquor, Portuguese Green Wine, and more!

Lisbon Electric Bike Full-Day Rental

5. Lisbon Electric Bike Full-Day Rental

Make light work of your visit to Lisbon with a full-day’s electric bike rental. You can explore the city’s historic neighborhoods at your own pace and with the help of detailed maps. At first glance the city looks compact, but you will soon discover that it is impossible to see Lisbon in 1 day by foot. The electric bikes make easy work of your sightseeing in an entertaining way. You will be able to access the most difficult parts of town with ease and not have to restrict yourself to the lowest parts of the city and riverside. Start by visiting the charming Old Town with the aid of a detailed map especially created with bike lovers in mind. Ride down obscure alleys and enjoy scenic view points. Bike through the Monsanto forest where more than 1,000 acres of greenery, set at an elevation of 820 feet above sea level, provide cooler air. Cycle to lovely neighborhoods, such as Belem, and get to know the places that shaped Portugal today. See districts that have withstood earthquakes and Arabic invasions, and cycle past enchanting shops, cafés and restaurants that retain the charm of days gone by.

Old Town E-Bike Tour by Sitgo

6. Old Town E-Bike Tour by Sitgo

Ride on brand-new e-bikes, a tailor-made mode of transportation for the hilly city of Lisbon. Enjoy riding a bicycle with an electric engine to give you a push on the hardest parts of the route. The guides will show you how to ride the e-bikes and get you ready to go. Start from the Cais do Sodré area and cross the majestic Praça do Comercio, as you cycle on to visit the Old Town district of Alfama. Alfama is Lisbon's oldest quarter. Spread over the south-eastern slope of the hill crowned by Castelo de São Jorge, this picturesque neighborhood is composed of a maze of narrow streets, winding alleyways, and steep flights of steps. Its Kasbah-like layout is deliberate - this is the city's ancient Arab district. Alfama derives from the Arabic word Al-Hama that means "source of good water". One of the few areas of Lisbon, which wasn't destroyed by the big 1775 earthquake, Lisbon's old quarter offers many things to see. The tightly-packed lanes, small archways, and stone-paved terraces are full of atmosphere and great fun to explore. Besides the castle, there are several historic 17th-century churches in the vicinity, as well as the city's impressive cathedral. Alfama also wakes up at night, when some of the city's most authentic cafés and restaurants open their doors to serve delicious traditional cuisine. The neighborhood is also home to traditional Fado houses, where this unique Portuguese musical expression can be appreciated in rustic and romantic surroundings.

We booked this E-bike tour as this was the first time in Lisbon. Our only request to George was to show us some none-tourist sights. And he really delivered. We saw several of the famous view points - but also some of the unknown. We saw several street arts and learned the history behind them. The 3 hours flew by (it was an e-bike!). George has a huge knowledge of Lisbon and Portugal that he gladly shared. I throughly recommend this tour.

We had a great time, touring the city and our guide was charming informative. Highly recommend this way of getting to know Lisbon.
