Ted, our guide, was very helpful and always ensured we were comfortable with the walking up hills. He gave us various options for the route to view the wonderful houses. Ted’s knowledge was vast on San Francisco, as well as the architecture and history of the many houses we visited.

Our tour guide/driver was Kimmy and she was awesome! Energetic, funny, and helpful, especially with taking pictures. She actually gave us a lot more information than the people at the wineries. One problem: the air conditioning on the bus didn't work well, so we were all sweating on the ride back to SF. The winery in Napa was ehh, but the 2 in Sonoma were good. Would've liked to spend an extra 15 minutes in Muir woods though.

Our guide, Mike, was great. He was knowledgeable and nice. The only bad part of the trip was the bus ride. The suspension bottomed out many times and hurt my back. If the ride was smoother, it would have been a 5 star trip.

  • San Francisco: Escape from The Rock Bay Cruise

    9. San Francisco: Escape from The Rock Bay Cruise

Cruise San Francisco Bay and sail under the Golden Gate Bridge on a 90-minute narrated tour around Alcatraz Island. Skip the box office line and go straight to the gate with your ticket.

See Alcatraz island from the water while listening to accounts of the chilling escape attempts and the notorious criminals that called Alcatraz prison home. Cruise full circle around Alcatraz Island, allowing you to view every angle of this mysterious island, which housed famous inmates such as Al Capone, Billy Cook the Killer, and Clyde Johnson, whose escape attempt is legendary. Gain a clear picture of what life in this maximum-security prison was like when it was the most feared institution in the American penal system.

This was a fun trip! I do wish someone would of warned us about how windy and cold it is if you sit on the outside deck. A winter coat and hat, at least, would of created a more comfortable experience. It did seem like the cruise was generous with the time. The only thing I would change is that when circling around Alkatraz that circling around at oppsite directions so that BOTH sides of the boat can get the good, unobstructed view. If you want an unobstructed view sit on the right hand side of the boat. Otherwise we enjoyed this cruise very much. Thank you!

At each winery, enjoy up to 3-5 tastings of their signature blends. Your day concludes with a scenic drive back over the Golden Gate Bridge and into San Francisco...

We think that the difference of this tour was our guide George! He is definitely the best guide you can have for a tour like this. He has the ability to get attention of the complete group and his explanation of San Francisco is the best you can have. George is for sure the best and makes all The difference for this tour. I think because of him, that this tour was above expectations.

The cruise started at 11am. We traveled west along the shore line and the narrator described all the pertinent landmarks including the Presidio, the forts and the Palace of Fine Arts. We passed the Golden Gate Bridge and the view was amazing. On the way back we saw Sausalito, Angel Island, Alcatraz and more of the San Francisco cityscape. This cruise should be a requirement for any first time visitor.
