Full description
Embark on this climb and see the peak of Etna in all her majesty. The departure is from the south side of the volcano, north of Nicolosi. First, you will take a cable car and then a special off-road minibus to reach 2900m above sea level, where, with an authorized volcanological guide, you will walk until you reach 3300 m. From this altitude, you can admire the impressive summit of Etna and it's active craters. During the descent, it will be possible to explore the craters of recent eruptions. The descent will be on foot, in the company of the guide from 3300m to 2500m, where you will board the cable car again.  This is a small group tour and is also dependent on fine weather conditions and the volcano being calm. It lasts about 5 and a half hours and requires a reasonable level of fitness.

Nicely organized trek through the mountain, diverse in experiences, views and landscapes. Not too hard but also not easy, just right to feel like you achieved something at the end of the day. Guides are fun, knowledgeable and friendly. You need to do this if you're in the area ;)

Fantastic experience! So pleased that my boyfriend and I chose Etna Tours to go with! This excursion was fantastic value for money, and what an incredible experience looking down into the craters of Europe’s most active volcano to see it spewing molten lava! They provided walking boots, jackets, helmets and walking sticks. We were able to pay the additional €33pp for the cable cars and 4x4 bus on card. The hike was relatively difficult but we took it at a nice gentle pace and every direction you looked the views were breathtaking. Because we were lucky enough to have such good visibility out guide took us over the centre of the volcano to the north east side and we got to gaze down into an additional crater to the one on the itinerary and this was rumbling and intermittently spewing molten lava, what a thrill! The first crater was beautiful as well, huge and moon-like with impressive plumes of smoke all around. The two guides were very jovial and handed out treats at lunch. Amazing!

Excellent organization, very safe and great guides (even gave us some Etna vine for lunch! :)). Only possible improvement would be that the meeting point seemed a bit messy, we didn't know where to find our guide or if they will give us any equipment (shoes/poles/helmet/jacket). Ended up working out perfectly fine afterwards.
