Full description

Take a guided tour of Barcelona’s magnificent La Sagrada Familia cathedral and enjoy the city’s most iconic landmark. Striking for its architectural features and art, the history of the Sagrada Familia is legendary. The all-consuming obsession of the Modernisme architect, Antoni Gaudi, work on the building began in 1882 and remains unfinished to this day. During your tour you will see the contrasting Nativity and Passion façades. Your guide will talk about the symbolism and representations of the Holy Family as an expression of Christian ideology constructed in stone. Marvel at its Christian iconography as you learn the history of the church, regardless of your faith. See the angled pillars sprouting like a web of tree branches to hold up the roof. Below ground lies the Museu Gaudi, where documentation about Gaudi’s life and work can be found. There is also a crypt where masses are held, and a viewing platform above the burial site of the architect.

Our guide was excellent, passionate, informative and helpful. The Sagrada Familia is a fascinating building and it was really good hearing the history and symbolism behind the construction and designs, Gaudi's involvement as well as future developments. The interior is just as spectacular as the exterior! Highly recommend.

Our was wonderful explaining the outside of the Cathedral. If we had not gone on the tour, we would have missed so much! She also helped us understand the inside. Definitely, going to the Cathedral with a guide was necessary to get the benefit of this beautiful place.

The tour itself, lasting about an hour, was great, and we really liked our tour guide, Marta. She was friendly and knowledgable about La Sagrada Familia. I took away one star for the confusion about the meeting place, which was the 2nd tour of the day that there was an issue with Get Your Guide (the 1st time, they wanted to change the time of that tour, although I had a printed confirmation of it, to times I couldn't make, and refused to refund my payment as I hadn't cancelled 48 hours in advance, although it was them not me who changed the time of the tour)> For this tour, I called when I didn't see the guide (there were other people waiting for this guide too) and was told the guide was in a different place. I explained this was where we were told to meet (in writing) and the representative finally said she would call and have the guide pick us up there. The tour was actually good, once we got started.
