Full description

Visit the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone on a guided day tour from Kyiv. Learn about the infamous 1986 nuclear disaster and subsequent clean up efforts with an expert guide, with permits and photo permission included.

Depart Kyiv by bus and set off on the journey to Chernobyl. As you make your way to the Exclusion Zone, learn about the rules of radiation safety and watch specially-prepared video material about the disaster en route to the exclusion zones. Learn how the city, while largely abandoned, is still populated with local workers and policemen along with shops, a post office, and café. See sights such as the museum, St. Elijah Church, the Park of Glory, river port and memorial to the liquidators who rushed to reactor number 4 in the immediate aftermath of the explosion. Visit reactor number 4, where complex engineering solutions are underway designed to transform it into an ecologically safe system. Discover the secret facility of Chernobyl 2 and go to the Soviet over-the-horizon radar station of Duga, where foreign radio stations were blocked and espionage took place. Next, go to the ghost town of Pripyat and see the abandoned amusement park and the Ferris wheel that no child ever got the chance to ride. Great tour! Great guide, well organized! I do not recommend doing the tour in summer (also recommended by the guide) because, for example, there is a lot less going on in February and you can discover more or explore more undisturbed. The optional food is not recommended, advise to bring your own food. Otherwise everything was great! Recommendable!

Amazing experience! We were very fortunate to visit Pripyat as the Ukrainian Army had been conducting drills there in the early part of the day, but thankfully our tour guide managed to get us in after 3pm. If you are interested in Soviet history then this is a must for you.

An exciting trip that evokes food for thought. Unfortunately, I forgot the name of our excellent guide, but he did a great and very empathetic job. He lives in Kiev himself but speaks really good and clear English. He was neither too mowed nor too little. I may be a little picky, but I'm glad I opted out of lunch on the trip. It looks like an old military kitchen and it certainly did not smell nice in the room Finally remember your original passport !!! You have to show it several times along the way and without it, there is no access. I can highly recommend this tour, but it probably requires you to have a genuine interest in the tragic story, otherwise I think it will be a long day. But for anyone with an interest in the subject, I can definitely recommend the trip.
