Aeolian Islands

Embark on a hiking adventure with a guide to discover Stromboli Island during sunset. Take in the typical Mediterranean nature as you walk. This hiking adventure starts from the info point Ashàra located in Piazza San Vincenzo. Departure scheduled about 2 hours before sunset to admire the spectacular beauty along the side of Sciara del Fuoco and enjoy the typical Strombolian explosions. After a briefing, the hike will begin through a nature trail that will lead us up to 400mt ( maximum limit allowed by the authorities to ensure maximum safety), excellent observation point of the summit craters and Sciara del Fuoco. During the trekking we will make some intermediate breaks to enjoy the view, we will visit the old island cemetery, we will cross the typical Mediterranean scrubs, accompanied by the constant view of Strombolicchio. Once reached the Sciara del Fuoco, we will stop to admire the wonderful sunset that colors the Aeolian archipelago red and the spectacular "strombolian" activity with its explosions that shine in the night sky. Return downhill in the dark equipped with torches to the starting point through the typical reeds of the island and the old mule track

Passing through the characteristic streets, filled with stores, clubs and restaurants, taking the road upstream, you can reach the small church of San Pietro, patron saint of the island and protector of fishermen, from there you can also enjoy an extraordinary panoramic view. We also recommend visiting the prehistoric village of Capo Malattese and the famous beach of Cala Junco (take a vehicle because it is about a 45-minute walk from the center) (Optional tour at a cost of 10€ to admire the uninhabited coves and islets, the famous Basiluzzo) DEPARTURE from Panarea 3:45 p.m. ARRIVAL at Stromboli 4:45 pm, stop for about h 3:30 visit the active volcano with black sand beaches and the charming village of San Vincenzo, possibility of shopping and dining on the Island. DEPARTURE from Stromboli 8:10 pm, before sunset to reach the " SCIARA DEL FUOCO". Stop approx. 30 minutes, in front of the Sciara, to admire the activity of the Volcano. ARRIVAL at the Port of Tropea 10:30 p.m.

The Aeolian Islands are a fascinating volcanic archipelago in the Tyrrhenian Sea north of Sicily. They are named after Aeolus, the demigod of the winds.  Lipari is the biggest, most populated Aeolian Island and has historically been the most significant. Lipari offers a grand archaeological museum housed in the buildings around the Duomo. Also impressive are the white shiny pumice quarries, which, overlooking the sea, give the water an amazing turquoise hue. Vulcano, which gives its name to all volcanoes, is particularly famous for its sulfurous mud baths and its smoking main crater. A man named Stevenson lived on Vulcano until the last major eruption in 1888. He never returned although his villa is still visible and intact. The tour departs from Taormina by bus to Milazzo harbour on the North coast of Sicily then continues by private boat to Lipari. In Lipari there is plenty of time to visit the old town center, to see the interesting archaeological park or simply shop for souvenirs. Guests then transfer by boat to the island of Vulcano for a second stop. Here there is the possibility to swim in the warm sulphureous seawater or enjoy the beach and have a delicious lunch (optional). On the way back, the tour follows the coastline to see the Faraglioni Rocks, the Horse Cave and the Mermaid's Rock.

Boarding from the port of Tropea and after about two hours of navigation, docking in San Vincenzo, a typical village with its characteristic white houses and Aeolian architecture. In the immediate vicinity of the landing there are the suggestive black beaches, where it is possible to swim. Free time allows you to have an aperitif or to dine in a room with a sea view, to stroll through the narrow streets of the picturesque town, to go and visit the church of San Vincenzo or the Operational Center of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology on the Seafront or to observe the traditional fishermen. Second stop of the tour is Lipari, the queen of the Aeolian Islands. It is the largest island and seat of the municipality that also administers the other islands, with the exception of Salina. On the hill, a sheer lava rock that separates the two bays of Marina Corta and Marina Lunga, it is possible to visit the Aeolian Regional Museum, one of the most important in Italy, located within the walls of the fortified castle with a spectacular view of the coast. Also not to be missed are the Greek-Roman Acropolis and the Cathedral of San Bartolomeo of Norman origin. The historic center offers a variety of shops where you can spend your time shopping. A few hundred meters south of Lipari is the suggestive island of Vulcano, the last stop on our tour. According to Greek mythology, the forges of Hephaestus, the Greek god of fire, were located here. The reason is obvious: fumaroles and jets of steam can be observed at the top of the active Fossa volcano and under the sea water. Vulcano creates a particular, almost ancestral relationship between the island and the visitor. The island is the ideal place for trekking lovers, who will be able to reach the top of the crater to enjoy a priceless landscape

Meet your skipper in Lipari and embark on your trip around the island of Vulcano and the Vulcanello Peninsula. Admire the fantastic island from the sea and then sail around the peninsula.
