A pristine example of a typical Arab fort, its one-meter-thick walls warded off invaders and helped keep rooms cool during the hot summer. Originally built by Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani in 1938 to serve as a Coast Guard station, the Zubara Fort now serves as a museum displaying a varied collection of exhibits and artworks, with a focus on contemporary topical archaeological findings. The fort, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in recognition for its preservation and as a unique example of a formative period, is the perfect place for fans of Middle Eastern history to learn more about military life in Qatar in the 18th and 19th centuries. After all this, you will also be able to see an old traditional Qatari village.

After pickup from your hotel, you'll head for Al Khor, which means "sea on three sides" in Arabic. The city is older than Doha, but far smaller in size. It used to be the center of the pearling industry in Qatar. Today it boasts a scenic harbour where you can find traditional fishing dhows and a museum showcasing the fishing, pearling, and dhow-building industries. Next you'll visit a dhow repair yard where traditional dhows, which are still being used commercially in Qatar, are maintained and repaired. Learn about process of building and maintaining dhows at this specially built boat yard. From the dhow repair yard, head north to the Al Takhira Mangroves. The mangrove colony is both a major tourist attraction and an important natural environmental resource for Qatar. It provides a natural habitat and a sanctuary for birds, fish, and other animals while also preventing coastal erosion. The final stop on your tour is at Al Zubarah Fort, an important UNESCO listed archeological site on the north-western coast of Qatar. Al-Zubarah was once a flourishing port and a center of trade, fishing and pearling. An international team of archaeologists, led by the Qatar Museums Authority, have uncovered many of the artifacts which are displayed in the renovated fort.

Begin your tour with a comfortable drive-by vehicle to discover the heritage of Qatar. Stop at Al Zubara fort, an important archaeological site with a fortress that has been turned into a museum. Continue Al Khor, a town known for its harbor and lovely beaches. The next stop is at Al Khor Island, also known as Jazirat bin Ghanim and Purple Island. It accommodates the only archaeological site in the country attributable to the second millennium BC. Next, stop at al Dhakhira city, which used to be a fisherman and pearl hunter village to see the cargo and fishing dhow boats. Finally, you will then head back to Doha.

Your adventure begins when you’re picked up from Doha and begin heading north for around 40 kilometers. Your first stop will be Al Zubarah, an important archaeological site made famous by its old fort. A square-shaped site with circular towers in three of its corners and a rectangular tower in the fourth, this fascinating fort-cum-museum was built in 1938 during the rule of Sheikh Abdullah Bin Jassim Al-Thani and was erected upon the ruins of a neighboring fort. You’ll then move on to Al Ruwais to discover the Dhow Harbor and also pass by Al Jumail Abandoned Village & see remains of an old traditional village. Here you’ll take a short break at Ruwais beach to enjoy the fresh sea breeze. On your way back to Doha, you’ll pass by Al Khor, the second-biggest town in Qatar renowned for its gorgeous harbor and golden beaches.
