  • Jasper National Park: 2-Hour Whitewater Rafting

    2. Jasper National Park: 2-Hour Whitewater Rafting

The Mile 5 trip is our most popular trip and the one with the longest season, early May-late September. We meet in the town of Jasper and transport you only 8 km south of town to the put in point. After suiting up in clean dry wetsuits and a safety talk it is off to the river. The section begins with about a 10-minute float. This allows the paddler time to feel comfortable in the raft, experience the river environment and take in the 360-degree Mountain View. After this short float the grade 2 rapids begin. Grade 2 is big enough to get everyone who wants to get wet, wet but it is unlikely anyone will go for an unexpected/unwanted swim. If you are brave enough there are place you can choose to go for a swim in the glacial water. After 4 or 5 sections of rapids the Miette River joins the Athabasca and the trip ends just around the corner at Old Fort Point. After getting out of your wet g...

It was a lot of fun! We had never been white water rafting before and we’re not sure what to expect. I had concerns about safety but those were completely eased once we were on the water. The guides are well trained snd know how to navigate the water, the raft is excellently built with fail safes and they gave a thorough safety talk prior to the adventure to know how to handle any situation that may arise however unlikely. Once we were on the water I understood better and my worries were gone. We want to go again snd next time do higher class rapids. These class 2 were perfect for beginners and super easy… maybe too easy for us. But overall we’re glad we did it and the canyon was beautiful!!

  • Athabasca Falls: Class 2 White Water Rafting Adventure

    7. Athabasca Falls: Class 2 White Water Rafting Adventure

The Athabasca Falls trip is probably our most scenic. After a 30-minute bus drive from town guests are suited up in our wetsuit gear. After a safety talk there is a 5-minute portage to the river. This river trip starts with a bang. Once out in the main current the first set of rapids is only seconds way. Once these rapids have soaked everyone in the raft the rafters find themselves in a canyon. For the next 30-minutes there are no trails or roads next to the river it is just the river and you. The canyon ends with another set of rapids and spectacular views of the Athabasca River valley. Once back at the highway it is about 20 minutes to the take out. There are more sections of rapids but also flat section to enjoy and learn about the natural surroundings. All trips are in 8-person rafts with a licensed river guide.

This was our first WW rafting trip ever. Nate’s personality and knowledge of floral and fauna really allowed us to fully experience the entire natural experience. Nate pointed out various birds, calving island and the history and current natural issues facing the National Park. He was also very friendly and 50% of the raft’s occupants got into the water and tried the re-entry method! This was so much fun we returned the next weekend for more. We’re booked for 2022! See you then Nate!

Absolutely fantastic whitewater rafting trip! Our guide, Ty was exceptional, his knowledge of the river and mountain range was impressive. I would highly recommend this rafting company!

  • Jasper National Park: Sunwapta River White Water Rafting

    9. Jasper National Park: Sunwapta River White Water Rafting

The word Sunwapta is a Stoney Indian word meaning turbulent waters. Our trip on the river lives up to the name. The Sunwapta is a narrow, steep, glacial feed river in the heart of Jasper National Park and is rated as an overall Grade 3. The Sunwapta is the only grade 3 whitewater offered in Jasper National Park. The river is glacial fed and as long as the weather is warm we can have great water up until closing. The river trip itself begins with a float where crews can practice their paddling technique before the show begins. Once the rapids start they just build and build until the Whopper soaks everyone just before the take out. Once the rapids start it is still important to look at the 360 degree Mountain Views. The river follows the jagged ridge of the Endless Chain. All trips are in 8 person-guided rafts.

Hummed and hawed about rafting for years and finally took the plunge to go. Never been and now I wish I went earlier in the summer so I could go again. Shout out to our guide Erin. Answers all your questions and she was a lot of fun. Look forward to coming back again next year.

This activity occurred on September, which was already cold. However, we were provided wetsuits, neoprene jackets, socks and shoes to keep us warm and comfortable. The guides were there ahead of time, they were knowledgeable, funny, and wonderful. This activity is a perfect introductory to white water rafting. The guides knew what they were doing, which made us feel safe. Elliott was extremely funny!

I did Athabasca class 2 rafting and there were 4-5 rapids which were very exciting. The view of Rocky Mountains at the time of rafting is just exceptional. Our guide was also too good. I would say that don’t miss out on this experience. It’s will be a memorable one.

The people were great! Great company great view. Fun turn abouts on the rafts. It wasn't too cold. Weather was beautiful. I would do level 3 next!

Highly reconmend! A must try activity in Jasper! The family will definitely come back for this!
