Full description

Leave Amsterdam for half a day on this guided tour of the rolling Dutch countryside. Sit back and travel comfortably in a coach to the rural village of Edam. Take a walk through the quaint streets of Edam. En route to Volendam, stop to visit an old cheese farm to see how authentic Dutch cheese is made. Indulge in trying some of these huge spheres of delicious cheese. Upon arrival in Volendam, follow your guide on a journey through the fishing village’s winding streets. Hear about how this bustling place was once the harbor for neighboring village Edam. Enjoy some free time to eat lunch. Next, move on to visit the windmill village of Zaanse Schans. Once used to ground spices, dyes, lumber, oil, cocoa powder, and many other items, the mills are still in use today.

Some are now living museums where you can learn about the ins and outs of milling. Visit a wooden shoe factory and behold how traditional clogs are created using antique machines. Filled with newfound knowledge and a taste of the traditional Dutch ways of life, relax and reminisce about your trip while on the journey back to Amsterdam.

It was very well organized, our tour guide gave us some facts about the country, the city, and the locations we’d be visiting. Was very happy with the sights, the tour, our driver, and our exceptional tour guide. Our tour guide told us to call her “yo-yo” she was sweet! Really enjoyed my time

It would have been a little better if we had a bit more time at the windmills. I would have liked to go into one for a tour, but by the time we walked down the path to see them and try to decide which one we wanted to go into, we had to hurry back to the bus. Also, the tour guide was very kind, but she didn't know some specific dates and details about things that should be easy for her to look up and be prepared for, to make herself more professional. She even said someting like, "this is the oldest building in Edam, from the 1500s or 1600s, I don't remember exactly..." And a few other examples like that. She's supposed to be the expert, so she should have the facts straight.

It was a great deal for such a trip! Special thanks to the tour guide, she was amazing! We had enough of free time to walk around the villages as well as walk with the guide. It was no rush, just perfect timing for each location. Definitely recommend! PS: don’t be late for the bus whenever you walk around alone, we agreed to gather at the bus at states time, two guys were really late and we left to the second place without them
