Full description

Climb aboard an air-conditioned coach and travel through a typical Dutch landscape for 1.5 hours en route to the picturesque town of Giethoorn. Experience how the Dutch people live with, and on, the water upon arrival, and set off to explore on foot and by boat.

Enjoy the peace and quiet of a town where cars are forbidden and little has changed over the centuries. Admire the many types of boats in the town, from gondolas to punters and flat-bottom vessels used as transportation on the canals.

Cruise past the skillfully restored farmhouses on a 1-hour boat trip, and get some free time for lunch and to explore on your own. Get tips from your guide on what to see and where to eat. The tour will continue to the Enclosing Dike (Afsluitdijk), the 32-kilometer dike connecting the provinces of North Holland and Friesland. The Netherlands is famed the world over for the way it deals with water management.

The Afsluitdijk, built to tame what was formerly the Zuiderzee (now the Ijsselmeer lake) is a prime example of Dutch water prowess.

Beautiful experience in this fairytale city, truly an enchantment. The coach journey from Amsterdam is not short, but it is absolutely worth it. The boat ride lasting about an hour is also very impressive. The guide was very precise and understandable, in both English and Spanish. There is also enough time to wander around alone, eat and take pictures. Highly recommended!

Giethhorn is a beautiful Fairy tale village. Travel time is a bit long but indeed worth it. The bus left at 10.10am and dropped back by 6.45pm. It is recommended to reach the pick up spot atleast 25 mins in advance so you can join the group easily and board the bus choosing your comfort seat. Bus was decent and comfortable. There are a lot of restaurants, coffee shops and gift shops In the village. Although everything is a bit expensive. Not necessary to have food from the restaurant bus stops on. Overall I feel the stay time in the village of almost 4.5 hrs was long and 3 hours would be more than enough. The boat ride itself takes an hour.

The village is very beautiful and deserves to be seen. The only drawback having been there in the crowded first week of August. Many people crowded the small streets and canals crowded with boats. If possible, to better enjoy the characteristic town, it would be preferable to go to a less touristy period!
