Full description

Leave behind the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam by taking a ferry to the countryside and embarking on an e-bike tour just outside the city.

Cycle through Broek in Waterland past canals, bridges, and historical farms with a guide. Then, visit an authentic cheese farm to see how cheese and clogs are made.

Start your bike tour by taking the ferry to the north side of Amsterdam. See the Amsterdam Tower and the Eye Film Museum, a unique introduction to Amsterdam's Old Holland area. Afterward, cycle through the natural area of Waterland. This flat landscape offers views of moments that feel lost in time, as you encounter expansive fields and traditional Dutch farmers going about their daily lives. Cycle through the ancient villages of Broek, where time seems to have completely stopped. The land is protected by kilometers of dikes and pumping stations, allowing picturesque villages to blossom, and the region to become a hot spot for outdoor activities on land and on water. Finally, visit a windmill, and a local farm that produces cheese that is exported around the world.

Our tour guide had gotten in an accident on the way to our meeting spot. We were quickly rescheduled for later in the day with the option of a refund. We decided to stay and we’re so happy we did! The ride was so pleasant. The countryside is lovely. We saw pheasants, goats, horses, cows, some beautiful homes and a quaint village. The windmill and the cheese farm weren’t even the highlights for me because of those other sites. There was a ferry crossing halfway through that was fun and Mona, our guide, was very nice and informative.

Despite the initial rain showers, we set out on the journey with the e-bikes. A big thank you to our lovely guide Claudette, who joined us on the tour even though we were the only two participants. The pace was very comfortable and you see very nice corners outside of Amsterdam.

Wonderful experience to see the countryside in spring so close to the city. We cycled along canal paths, next to wildflowers, sheep and cows. Be prepared for changing weather. It was raining when we started but soon cleared to a hot sunny day. The e-bikes made it very easy for all fitness levels. Highly recommend!
