Dublin: Guided Sights and Pints Tour

2. Dublin: Guided Sights and Pints Tour

Following Irish Independence, a few men sat down and thought about what they would do with Dublin. Following much intense discussion and with the preservation of the British and Irish cultures in mind, it was born into the city it is today. Since then, Dublin has become a symbol of reconciling Ireland's British past with its Irish future. The British Trinity College (with its Protestant legacy) has produced Oscar Wilde and Jonathan Swift, and Dublin's pubs have produced writers from the Irish tradition, such as Patrick Kavanagh and Brendan Behan. This tour is, therefore, a tribute to Dublin's dual personality, and the pub door will be the boundary between the two worlds. Get comfortable in a few warm pubs throughout the tour where you will discuss important aspects of history, including Irish origins, the Irish language, and the Celtic Tiger. With this in mind, you will pop into a great pub every 20-40 minutes. Besides the history lessons, you'll learn about beer and the Irish pub, and will also partake in/witness an activity that the Irish are renowned for, conversation.

Dublin: The Fantastic Private Walking Tour

3. Dublin: The Fantastic Private Walking Tour

In the courtyard of Dublin Castle, your footfalls will echo through the castle’s 800-year history. At the GPO on O’Connell Street, be exhilarated as you stand where crowds gathered in 1916 for the Declaration of Irish Independence & the passions of poets and Irish freedom fighters throughout the centuries were born anew. Can you feel it? Welcome to Dublin! The purpose of this tour is to make you fall in love with Dublin at first sight. It is perhaps your first time in the city? Or maybe you are here on a business trip and in between conference events day after day, with very little time to actually see the city? Or you have just a few hours to experience Dublin before your connecting flight takes off. Why not do it with a private guide? This 3-hour Fantastic Tour of Dublin is designed for those who are short on time but hungry to get to know Dublin for what it is – a city with beautiful and sometimes troubled history, a city founded by strangers and invaded by strangers in the old times, that is so friendly and accepting of strangers today.

First time in Dublin & it was the perfect way to discover the lay of the land. The guide, Anne, was very informative & entertaining. Although roadworks prohibited access to about 3 of the stops on the tour, the guide made sure to give us all the information pertaining to those stops. I'd recommend this as a way to initially get to know Dublin.
