Full description

Learn all about the local wildlife and nature of Alaska with a guided walk through Anchorage's Botanical Garden. Stroll along the paved path and admire the many beds, flowers in bloom, and try to spot some local animals around.

Explore a hidden spot in Anchorage and meet your guide at the mailbox for a brief wildlife safety talk as bears and moose are known to wander around the area.

Walk with your guide and take note of the entry beds, which host a mix of ornamentals and edibles. Make your way to the gate and enter the plaza area where you can admire one of the first flowers in bloom.

As you embark on the trail, talk about the history of the Alaska Botanical Garden, including the dedicated volunteers and staff that helped establish it over 34 years ago.

Visit several perennial gardens, view research plots, and marvel at the outdoor classroom. Finish the tour in the greenhouse, before exiting through the nursery and gift shop.

Choose your timing wisely, as different plants will be visible depending on the season. Leave the tour with newfound knowledge about the hardy plants of Alaska, its fierce wildlife, and the many stunning flowers that call this place home.
