Fly by helicopter to Lake George, awarded Natural Landmark status for its scenic beauty. On the way, admire the mighty Knik Glacier. See bears, moose and mountain goats. As the helicopter descendds towards the lake, see the scale of the glacier and icebergs. Some of the icebergs are the size of apartment buildings and may take several years to melt. Listen to the ice cracking and hopefully watch some big chunks fall into the lake, take a piece of glacier ice back to put in your favorite drink. Soon the massive icefall of Colony Glacier will come into view and you’ll find yourself surrounded by giant icy monoliths. On the way back, select the option for a stop at the lower Knik Glacier and land right on top of the glacier (optional, but totally worth it) and spend a half hour exploring with your guide.
