3-Day Cappadocia Tour

1. 3-Day Cappadocia Tour

Göreme National Park and the Rock Sites of Cappadocia were added to UNESCO’s World Heritage list in 1985. Discover these natural wonders on a 3-day professionally guided tour, choosing from Alanya, Side, and Belek departures. Cappadocia, located in eastern Anatolia, boasts a unique historical and cultural heritage. In addition, the landscape of the region’s Devrent, Paşabağ, and Pigeon valleys is characterized by unusual fairy chimney formations. Millions of years ago, 3 of Cappadocia’s mountains were active volcanoes. Volcanic eruptions and erosion of the tuff layers of volcanic ash created the formations you see in the area today. During this excursion you’ll come across a wide variety of fairy chimney shapes, ranging from conical, pointed, and columnar to hat and mushroom-shaped. Visit an underground city and the Göreme Open Air Museum, which features over 30 rock-carved churches and chapels, dating from the 9th to the 11th centuries, and many with interior frescoes. Your guide will take you to the Mevlâna Museum in Konya, the mausoleum of Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi. The site was also the lodge of the Mevlevi order of whirling dervishes. If you like you can choose to see a whirling dervishes show (not included in the tour price).

Good but improvements needed

Firstly we were given the wrong wake up time. Despite having an email, the app and a phone call the night before. We were needed 1 hour earlier then told. The coach and journey was fine, plenty of stops for the toilet and to stretch your legs. Underground city was interesting. Pigeon valley was nice to see but lunch was a little rushed. Definitely needed more time at the Uçhisar castle to explore and climb to the top. Hot air balloon didn’t happen due to weather, although other companies did go up. Think more emphasis/warning about this as this was the sole reason for the trip. Was especially frustrating to see other companies had gone up that morning. Visit to leather factory and onyx were a waste of time and would have much rather more time at the castle the day before. Hotel was lovely but didn’t stay in area listed. Lunch on the return journey wasn’t the best as no options for vegetarian- just salad which was the same price as meat. Overall good trip.

An excellent tour and very good value

This was a tour we chose only a few days before we arrived in Belek, Antalya, from where we started the tour. The pickup at our hotel was very prompt, within 10 minutes of the given time. Whilst the majority of the tour party (25 people) were Russians, the guide, Vadim, who spoke to them fluently, was also reasonably acceptable in English, so we were not left out of any conversation. He organised all the tours to all the sites very well, with enough time everywhere. He also organised the balloon trip for us, which was the highlight of our tour in Turkey. The mini-coach which transported us was reasonable, and with enough stops it did not feel like a long journey (550 km each way). The driver, Mustapha, was very competent, and we did not feel any risk. All in all, a very good 2-day tour. We felt somewhat tired at the end, but not exhausted. Well worth it for the experience.

Great trip

We have already seen many beautiful highlights of the world, Cappadocia is definitely one of them. Even though it was only 2 days, we were shown so much. The trip was well organized. Unfortunately, the tour was not in German because of the low number of participants. We didn't want to cancel and so we saved ourselves with English over the day and we didn't regret it. The highlight was clearly the balloon ride at sunrise. With 155 € / per person well invested money. You should definitely take this ride.

A wonderful and very interesting trip. Very well organised.
