Tenerife: Kayaking and Snorkeling with Turtles

2. Tenerife: Kayaking and Snorkeling with Turtles

Climb aboard for a kayaking adventure in Tenerife and get up close and personal with dolphins and turtles in their natural environment. Observe the amazing creatures from a vessel that does not frighten them or disturb their natural habitat. Be surrounded by pods of up to 30 dolphins that sometimes put on a show by jumping high into the air. Home to up to 5 different species of dolphins, including bottlenose dolphins, the waters just off the island’s coast are ideal to marvel at these lovable creatures. While the bottlenose dolphins are the easiest to spot, other species inhabit the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, including rough-toothed dolphins, striped dolphins, and common dolphins. As wild animals, views cannot be guaranteed, but there is a 95% chance that you will encounter the animals on your trip. Get an optional swimming break and snorkel with turtles and bull rays in a bay only accessible by kayak as a bonus. Usually, within a few minutes, curious turtles arrive and get very close, swimming around and in between you. Also, bull rays regularly glide elegantly along the sea bed underneath you.

• Nice experience, but probably best for ‘independent tourists’ • We had a booking for 11:15 for the 1 hour experience and we got there early and the lady at the counter offered some drinks while we were waiting, and she was really nice! The actual experience started at 11:45 but we didn’t mind the wait. The instructor gave general instructions on how to use the jet ski. Once we set off, we were left to be independent and the instructor just drove ahead, so this is a really good experience for more ‘independent’ tourists. If you need more reassurance, I would probably let the instructor know ahead of time so they can keep an eye on you. At the end, we were offered another drink while we looked at pictures. You can pay €20 to receive a link and you get around 180~ pictures and videos, but these pictures include the other groups as well, so you will probably get 25-30~ pictures of yourself/group shots. Overall, I recommend this experience as it was really fun and the staff was nice!

Went scuba diving for the first time and I felt really safe. The first hour consists of filling out paperwork and watching videos and trying on equipment. They gave us a water bottle as well which was really nice! I would say I’m more on the anxious side but I dived with Wata who was really nice. When I asked if we could go up we went up with no issues. If you feel too anxious to continue then they will let you sit in the car for the remainder of the trip while the rest go scuba diving. I recommend you try it though! It was really nice to see everything. I had a few issues but as long as you communicate you can resolve anything. We saw a few octopi and loads of fish which was amazing! I would probably do another discovery dive to get more comfortable with it but Wata and the rest of the team were really accommodating.

Great experience! We saw several dolphins and turtles! In the morning the ocean was very calm, however on the way back a bit more waves. If you are easily seasick definitely take the pill before! Our guide Guillaume did several stops on the water to wait for the entire team! Definitely a must during your trip to Tenerife!

Very good experience. The staff that accompanies, and takes the pictures, is very cool and professional, the trip is not too hard and the diving spot (with turtles for us) is amazing ! We recommend

Very nice kayak trip, we managed to see dolphins and one turtle! Shingi was our guide and he is awesome and interesting person with a lot of passion and energy to share.
