Great tour, exhilarating views, good info, but I am writing this solely to thank our guide, Elena, for helping us out. Before you go, make sure you know that the monasteries will NOT accept cards, so you must bring cash. The tour guide may make a stop at an ATM like Elena did for us, but if you cannot get cash you are out of luck. But we did have luck, and it was Elena, who let us borrow 20 euro so that we were able to enter all the available monasteries. Elena, if you are able to read this, a huge THANK YOU to you once again, you really made our trip a wonderful one!

The train ride went well even though it took us a bit to find our assigned car. Our guide, Maria, met us outside the train station with a welcoming smile. She gave us about 30 min to get something to eat before starting the tour. Maria shared her knowledge in a very easy and relaxed format. It didn’t feel like the info was memorized. The history of the monasteries was engaging and we liked that she provided current data too. We also thought that starting with the monastery with the most walking was appropriate. The views were spectacular.
