Explore the UNESCO-listed Meteora monasteries on a full-day guided trip from Athens. Take the train to Kalambaka and ascend to the clifftop to admire the monasteries and hermit caves of Badovas.

Enjoy your morning wake-up, avoiding any stress regarding your transfer to the rail station with our free-of-charge pick-up service. Arrive at the Athens railway station and catch the train for Kalambaka. Admire the beauty of the countryside along the way before arriving in Kalambaka, a small town built at the foot of rocky grey cliffs crowned by the monasteries of Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Spot your driver upon arrival in Kalambaka, holding a signboard with your name on it. Be shown to the vehicle that’ll take you to the monasteries, where you'll have time to visit 3 of them, as well as the hermit caves of Badovas.

At the end of the day, be transferred back to Kalambaka. Enjoy some time to explore the town and enjoy a light lunch (not included in the tour price). Afterward, the train departs Kalambaka, arriving in Athens in the evening.

Everything was perfect. Pick up at the meeting point. train tickets received in advance. Ask for your boarding platform directly from the station staff (platform 8 in general). Once in Kalambaka break for lunch. Bus guide and driver (and extra photographer) at the top. Stops at many viewpoints, we had time to visit 3 monasteries (entrance 3 euros each). lots of cats taking a break here and there. Return to Kalambaka after a wonderful day, enough time to pick up dinner. Attention the return by train is long, it took 1 hour more. But that's not the agency's fault.

This was a great day out. My introduction to Thessaly and middle Greece. OK - it involves a scenic 4 hour train journey there and a 4 hour journey back to Athens. But well worth the ride. The 5 hour guide around the monasteries was first class and run by a guide who knew the site well and could answer all sorts of questions.

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. The views from atop the mountains are amazing, and we were able to go inside 3 monasteries. Note that it costs 3 Euros to enter each monastery. The train ride from Athens to Kalabaka gave us a chance to view the countryside (it would have been nice to get more guidance as to how the train system works, but we eventually did find our car and seats). Our guide Vasily was excellent. He picked us up from the train station and knew exactly which stops along the route to make so we would get the best views. He was so knowledgeable and friendly. He even recommended a restaurant for us in Kalabaka before our train ride back. This was one of our more memorable things that we did on our trip to Greece. Thank you from Tristan and Annette!
