Ait Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate: Private Day Trip from Marrakech

1. Ait Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate: Private Day Trip from Marrakech

Cross the High Atlas Mountains by the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, 2,260 meters above sea level. See Berber villages perched on the side of the mountains, hardly distinguishable from the mountains themselves. On the far side of the mountains the landscape becomes desert-like. Admire the kasbah architecture featuring turrets, grilled windows, and peach-colored adobe walls. Continue to the ancient kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stop in Ouarzazate, known as Morocco's Hollywood. Movies filmed there including Diamond of the Nile, Lawrence of Arabia, Kingdom of Heaven, The Mommy, Gladiator, Seven Days in Tibet, Alexander the Great, Babel, and others.

I absolutely LOVED this experience. Having the private driver made stops, photos, and asking questions so easy and pleasant. My driver, Mustafa Ourzazate, was the best! He didn't rush the experience, he answered all my questions and held great conversation, and took the time to show me around some special spots. He didn't mind when I nodded off for a brief nap (traveling for days can be tiring), and he was so considerate - I didn't feel any pressure to keep constant conversation, and was able to rest and just enjoy. My guide for the Ait Ben Haddou tour, Imod, was so cool! He was knowledgable, funny, spoke clear English, and taught me a bit of Berber, too. I highly recommend hiring the private driver for your experience ~ it is worth the little bit extra, you'll get to see more, and you'll be comfortable in the vehicle. I recommend using this service for the guide ~ maybe you COULD go through on your own, but you'd be missing a special opportunity to connect with a really cool native.

My wife and I went to visit Marrakech on the December Bridge 2019, and we hired this private excursion. Wonderful trip, in which you can get to know the Morocco that you do not see in the guides: towns, people, landscapes ... as well as being able to cross the High Atlas through the highest mountain pass in all of North Africa. We were able to count on the experienced driving of Abdessamad, of whom we can say that, in addition to being a Great Guide (he offered us explanations of everything we asked him and more) he is an even better driver. The roads were NOT easy at all, especially when you have to cross the High Atlas on a road under renovation and through a port with the characteristics of Alto de Tichka, and despite my wife being fearful and I distrustful, at NO time did we worry some (in fact, my wife fell asleep on the return trip, and for that to happen, she has to go very quiet). My congratulations to GetYourGuide for being able to count on Abdessamad.

The driver spoke good English and met all special requests on our private tour. There was no time pressure and no "obligation" to stay in a restaurant or shop. All in all a successful day, even if you could actually save yourself Ouarzazate (since the residence of the "Pasha of Marrakech" is only for 30 minutes) ... But the Argentur can't do anything for that ... Thank you very much.

Very impressive tour

Even the drive through the Atlas Mountains was very impressive. And then the kasbah Ait Ben Hadou even more! Our driver booked us a guide who explained a lot to us and took us to a house that could be viewed. We were very happy to have booked a private driver on the long tour. We would do the tour again in a heartbeat !!

Best tour!

Mohammed was the best guide you could ask for! We had a great day, much better than the group tour the next day. So we had a lot of time and got a lot of exciting information. Mohammed gladly again at any time - in sha 'Allah
