Visiting the White Temple was the highlight of our Thailand trip for my teenage boys. I was initially concerned that the drive would be too long, but after the visit, it was well worth the drive! Since we are a family of four, we paid a little extra and made it a private tour, which is well worth the money! We had flexibility with how we want to spend our time, and never wasted any time waiting for others or feeling rushed. Our guide, Sammy, was excellent! He spoke great English, and provided such detailed explanation/context for our visit so we can truly appreciate all the details of our visit. I love that he started our White Temple visit with the museum, which gave us so much appreciation for the artist that designed the temple, as well as all the thoughtful details throughout the Temple. Blue Temple was smaller, but also stunning. Sammy knew all the beautiful spots for taking pictures, and patiently took (and re-took) many pictures for our family.

This tour should be on top of the list for day tours outside Chiang Mai. The White Temple is just spectacular, the Blue Temple worth the stop and the Black House a third very different expert. It is fine to book the tour from the hotel, that guarantees pick-up and drop-off on site (and not at the McDonald in town). Also, insist on 2 hours time at the White Temple, don’t let the guide chase you through that marvel.

It was a great experience. The black house was a very unique place and I really like open area museums. The white temple was truly beautiful and had surprisingly modern art within. Don't forget to save some time for the art museum you are allowed to visit for free. Our guide Sunny was very helpful, taking photos for us, great storytelling and had a great energy! Thanks for this wonderful experience!
