Romantic Road and Rothenburg from Munich

3. Romantic Road and Rothenburg from Munich

This trip down the Romantic Road, a famous 220 mile route linking some of Bavaria's most exquisite architectural gems, will first take you to the Harburg: one of the oldest, largest and best-preserved castle complexes in southern Germany. This perfectly situated castle was first mentioned in documents of the 11th century and, with its surrounding village, retains the feel of the middle ages. Be enchanted by its historic flair and delve deep into its history. After visiting the castle, and pausing for coffee, you will drive on through the wondrous scenery of the Nördlinger Ries – the giant depression left by an ancient meteor in the Swabian landscape. Travelling via Dinkelsbühl, with its towers and spires, you will reach Rothenburg, a perfectly restored mediaeval town. Here you will have time for extensive exploration. Meander through the beautiful streets and alleyways, which are full of the charm of past times. Pick up a treasure or two in the boutiques, or have a meal in an exclusive restaurant. Your return to Munich will take you through the largest hops-growing region in the world, the Hallertau. On this tour you will surely see one of the most beautiful regions of south Germany.

Heidelberg 6-Hour Tour from Frankfurt

4. Heidelberg 6-Hour Tour from Frankfurt

Enjoy a morning tour to the romantic city of Heidelberg situated on the River Neckar, one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. It's simply magical. Visit the world-famous ruins of Heidelberg Castle, a stunning combination of architectural styles stretching from the Gothic period to the Renaissance. Stroll through the expansive courtyard and admire the views from the imposing terrace. Marvel at one of the largest wine barrels in the world. You then wander through the medieval town center. Here you will see the Old Bridge, the Karlstor, and the Church of the Holy Spirit. Admire the Haus zum Ritter (Knight's house) with its magnificent Renaissance façade and discover the old narrow lanes with their half-timbered houses. Heidelberg is also home to Germany’s oldest university and is full of interesting stories. And if you still have some time to spare, you can philosophize on Philophenweg (Philosophers' Way) or discover the excellent regional wines – the two go together quite nicely.

Alsace Villages Wine Route Day Trip from Strasbourg

Smiley was our driver and Elizabeth our guide. Both were extremely nice and friendly, and we had a wonderful time with them. Elizabeth thought us a lot of things we didn't know in Munich and along the way through Harbour castle. The castle is medieval and really nice. Price is 9 eur which is not included in the trip cost (the only thing I did not like). Rothenburg is a dreamy village and worth visiting it.

Very easy to book on line. Very clear explanations of the main attractions. Very easy to hop on and off (although not tried). Highly recommended if you have two hours to spare gave us ideas of other things to do

Awesome day , would not have seen most the attractions and city had I did this city visit on my own , highly recommended.

Amazing guide and bus driver! Pleasant drive! History, views and free time for wandering around!

Beautiful place, the guide Elisabeth gave a lot of information and was very good
