Absolutely wonderful

We were picked up at our hotel right on time and were first taken to the local market where we bought some ingredients to make our lunch.we then visited a local school who were all very friendly and happily to see us. We then carried on to our guides home and met his beautiful wife and family who made us a drink and showed us their house and explained all about living in this village and how it works ,after a long leisurely lunch we visited the bamboo forest where my wife and I had a lovely walk.Then on to a coffee plantation which was fascinating all about different teas and coffees and meeting the little animals who’s poo makes the dearest coffee in the world then on to the rice terraces this was very busy but loads to look at with a lot of fun activity going on here as well zip wires and high swings etc. We really had the best day and we were asked was there anything else we wanted to see before we returned back to our hotel and thanked our guide for making our most memorable day

This was an excellent tour that gave our family a unique perspective and understanding of local culture and experience. Sumi was a very gracious and thoughtful guide and we enjoyed getting to know him and his family. We got to experience shopping for ingredients at a local market, exploring Pengelipuran's elementary school, and preparing and eating food at Sumi's family home. We also briefly toured the neighboring bamboo forest and then visited the Tegallalang rice terraces on our way back to our accommodation. Overall it was a wonderful time. My only complaint is not with the tour itself but rather with the pricing structure on GYG. Because all persons are charged the same rate with no child discount, our family of five paid US$370 - a king's ransom in the Bali economy and more than we paid for anything else in our two-week holiday. It was still very worthwhile but we feel it could be priced more favorably for families.

This experience was great and I totally recommend it to anyone whether you are travelling solo, with partner, friends or family. Sumi was an excellent host that is very proud of his origin and traditions and super keen to share the balinese culture and rituals. Cooking together with his wife was great, both are very friendly and hospitable! I loved the walk in the market that was the first stop and the visit to local school and being a guest in Sumi’s house! He was an excellent photographer all the way through the tour too!
