    Learn the story of the Jewish community in Barcelona on a walking tour of the Gothic Quarter. Listen as a personal guide brings the history to life, and explains how important the Jewish people were to the development of Barcelona through the centuries. Go to Spain's oldest synagogue, and stroll down narrow alleys that date back to the Middle Ages. It is estimated that the Jewish community began to arrive in Spain in the 3rd century, following the destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem in 70 CE. Your guide will describe how the Jewish population grew steadily in Barcelona, becoming more and more important politically and spiritually. Learn how the Jewish community lived in relative peace until 1391, when a brutal attack brought a dramatic end to their presence in Spain. Soak up the art and architecture of the ruins of a house owned by a Jewish alchemist, and see the unique Mikve from medieval times. Go to the ruins of the Old Synagogue (Shlomo Ben Adret), and explore the small Jewish Quarter around the Roman walls.

    Deana was so wonderful!!! An absolute encyclopedia on history not only of Barcelona but also Israel and Judaism. She took us back in time with Jewish and regional history then expertly wound us back to the present. Deana wove in details along the way and pointed out interesting facts and artifacts that we never would have been exposed to on a regular tour or Audioguide. Deana's expertise was apparent in every way and she was so lovely which made this an incredibly informative and enjoyable two hours. We would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to weave Jewish history into their time in Barcelona. It is a must-do!!

    Our guide, Teresa, was excellent! She was extremely knowledgeable in Spanish Jewish history from the Middle Ages until present day. She was very enjoyable to listen to and was able to answer all our questions. She took us to places we definitely never would have found on our own and we learned so much. Teresa was a true pleasure to be with -in our 40 years of traveling we have been on many tours and Teresa is one of the best tour guides we have ever had. We enjoyed the tour immensely.and highly recommend it.
