Full description

Experience an unforgettable guided group tour to Montserrat, Catalonia's most famous mountain range. Take in the beauty of its natural rolling landscape and discover the history and traditions of its medieval monastery. After your bus journey from Barcelona, board the cogwheel train up to the monastery and admire the beautiful nature and iconic multi-peaked mountain range of Montserrat. Once at the monastery, your guide will take you on a walking tour of the historical center of the complex.

Learn about the rich history of the Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey, an 11th-century monastery that still functions to this day, with over 70 monks. Entry to the monastery is included in the tour price. Use the allotted free time to wander freely and visit the famous Black Madonna and see paintings by Picasso, El Greco, and Dali at the Montserrat Museum. During your free time, you can also ride the funicular train up the side of the mountain to get even better viewpoints of the monastery.  Travelers who booked the half-day tour option will return to Barcelona after the visit to Montserrat. If you chose a full-day tour option, you'll continue toward a beautiful boutique winery. Arrive at the winery and, depending on the food option you booked, enjoy a light tapas or multi-course lunch. Admire amazing views of the winery and Montserrat mountains as you feast on traditional foods of the region. After your meal, wander around the vineyards, learn about the wine-making process, and enjoy a wine tasting session, before traveling back to Barcelona.

This was an absolutely delightful tour! After my planned travel buddy was unable to accompany me on my trip to Spain, I was worried about not having any good company. My assigned guide, Anays, made sure that did not happen! She cultivated a great trip that included tips from a local perspective, a fun environment, and a lot of camaraderie between members of her group. It was a fantastic tour overall, but having Anays as my guide was truly the cherry on top! I would highly recommend this activity and of course, Anays!

Our guide, Anays, made this trip absolutely incredible for us. The bus ride was very smooth and enjoyable. The sights were just amazing. But our guide MADE this trip the best! She’s a wine enthusiast with an incredible sense of humor. We laughed the whole day!! You’re so lucky if you get her as a guide!! BOOK. THIS. TOUR!

Our tour was very well organized. Our tour guide named BORJA did a good job. Very nice and friendly. He was able to explain the history of Monserrat. The tour gave us a very limited time, we were only given an hour and a half to explore and sadly that includes having lunch. We arrived at 11am and we were on our own to explore the place by 12 noon. Meeting up by 1:30. We just had a quick bite for lunch and a quick visit in their souvenir store. Bought tickets for the singing choir and altar of Madonna which is not included in the package tour. That alone ate so much time already. Was not able to check out the flea market which the tour mentioned because we were in a rush to get to the bus. For a tourist like me who had a major knee surgery I’m not able to walk fast. If we only knew that it will be that fast I could have opted another way to stay longer and enjoy well. Overall it’s a good experience and you can definitely take this tour if you want to see the place. Cheers!
