From Bath: Private Trip to Bowood House, Castle Combe & more

3. From Bath: Private Trip to Bowood House, Castle Combe & more

The day begins in Castle Combe, which is surely one of the most photographed villages in all of England. Little has changed here since the 15th century - no street lights or TV aerials. This mediaeval gem is famous for its picturesque cottages and babbling brook. Nestled in a wooded Cotswold valley, Castle Combe has been a favourite Hollywood filming location over the years for movies including War Horse, Stardust and Doctor Dolittle. The tour continues further into the heart of Wiltshire and onto Bowood House & Gardens. This delightful 18th century Georgian country house is famous for its sumptuous Robert Adam interiors and iconic landscaped gardens designed by Lancelot “Capability” Brown. This is your chance to share in the English dream - Bowood is one of England's premier stately homes and has been privately owned by the Lansdowne family since 1754. Enjoy a delicious lunch in either the Stables Restaurant or the Treehouse Cafe. Thereafter, your journey continues to the quintessential English village of Lacock, which dates back to the 13th century and where cars are the only sign of modern-day life. Little wonder that it has also been used as a filming location for Downton Abbey, Harry Potter and several BBC productions including Pride and Prejudice. The ancient Abbey boasts a fascinating history and a small museum that celebrates the invention of the photographic negative by William Henry Fox Talbot in 1839. Alternatively, get lost in the timeless side streets, buy some home-made honey or jam from outside locals' honesty shops, or step into one of the village pubs to sample a refreshing pint of local ale. Journey back to the delightful Georgian City of Bath at the end of this memorable day, where you will either be dropped off at your accommodation or in the centre of town.

Fantastic Bridgerton Tour! Would really recommend, 100% worth it. The tour guide was very informative and knew a lot about both Bridgerton and Bath. The use of images was also great as it really brought it to life to. The tour even involved some history non-bridgerton related to, which was really great (espesually for my partner who i'd dragged along who hasn't watched bridgerton!) You get to see some fantastic landmarks in bath as well as learn all about the filming and how Bridgeton is brought to life, 100% worth the money & would really recommend!

Phil was a great leader and I enjoyed his commentary about Bath and the film and TV locations about town. We got our fill of Bridgerton locations especially. The tour went for nearly three hours as Phil is so passionate about his town and had plenty to say!

Excellent walking tour that provides facts about Bath and Bridgerton. Billie, our guide, gave a truly excellent tour and we might even return to do it again!
