From Bergen: Folgefonna Glacier Blue Ice Hiking

1. From Bergen: Folgefonna Glacier Blue Ice Hiking

Enjoy a private tour that takes you from Bergen to Hardanger and Folgefonna Glacier. Start the tour in Bergen in the morning, with an 8 AM hotel pickup. Then, take the 1.5-hour drive in a private vehicle to Tørvikbygd and cross the Hardangerfjord by ferry to Jondal. From Jondal, drive up to the glacier which is 1200 meters above sea level. Meet your private guide from Folgefonni Breførerlag who will explain everything you need to know about the tour and how to put on the necessary gear. Begin your hike on the Folgefonna Glacier across the huge flat areas of ice. Also, go into crevasse areas and do some climbing if you like. The hike will be adjusted to the wishes of the participants. For some, it will be climbing and adrenalin, for some it will be a quiet walk into a different world. During the day, learn about the cultural and natural history of the glacier. The hike lasts between 3 and 4 hours. After the tour, get dropped-off back at your hotel in Bergen where your experience concludes.

From Bergen: Modalen Private Fjord-cruise with Waterfalls

2. From Bergen: Modalen Private Fjord-cruise with Waterfalls

This private boat trip will take you from Bergen through Norway's iconic fjords in Modalen. Experience amazing scenery, including mountains, traditional small villages, and waterfalls. You'll explore the small village of Mo before cruising back to Bergen through Fulufjallet National Park. From your hotel, it is just a few steps to the harbour to meet your friendly captain and guide for the day. As you cruise out of the harbor, you'll gain lovely views of the UNESCO World Heritage listed Bryggen harbor buildings. The captain will make sure you have enough coffee, tea, wine, beer or what you prefer during the whole day. And you can put on your favorite relax-music on the stereo, while enjoying the amazing norwegian nature along the fjord. How often can you enjoy a private luxurious boat like this, with your own captain? Enter the fjords and immerse yourself in a fairytale-like world of natural beauty. Look out to the stretching mountains on the horizon and listen to the softly rippling waters beneath the boat as you pass the towns Sandviken and Eidsvåg. We cruise at slow speed, so you can enjoy the nature and silence all the way up to Modal village. When you arrive at the narrow fjords and remote towns of Modalen, you'll be steered right up to a waterfall to taste the mountain water. Or you can have a shower under the waterfall, on the boats fore-deck. Or go for a quick swim in the fjord under the waterfall. The water is cold and fresh, and we have got a hot shower and towel for you. Your next stop will be the charming village of Mo, where you can take a break if you want, and explore the town of 100 residents at your own, and grab something to eat. We warn you that you will not meet many people here, only some locals- as tis is a very remote ans quite village, with only one grocery-store, and a cafeteria. The last part of the cruise will take you to the breathtaking 90-meter waterfall of the cliff Fulufjallet National Park. Enjoy some more snacks and wine on board as you cruise back along the fjords to Bergen. If you want to try steering the boat, the captain will step aside while you take over the steering. We are looking forward to see you, and we will make this the best day of your vacation.

What people are saying about Bergen

Excellent trip! Picked up from our hotel in a Porsche and water provided. Stop at a lovely waterfall on the way and the tour guide at Folgefonna was excellent. Knowledgeable, and plenty of breaks. Make sure to take some sandwiches with you as there's a sit down just under half way for a snack. Journey back was just as good and the taxi driver was lovely. He joined us for the hike also. Couldn't fault the trip or the team at Folgefonna. Only negative is it says equipment included - we lost our luggage and contacted the provider who said everything was included and we wouldn't need to buy anything. They provided waterproofs, gloves and snow boots with crampons but nothing for warmth so glad I'd already bought a hoodie. Would recommend, highly enjoyed!
