Full description

When David Bowie moved to Berlin in 1976, he found an island of Cold War angst. This 3-hour tour takes you back to the decadent 1970s in the city that inspired Bowie’s classic Berlin albums Low, Heroes, and Lodger. Starting at the decadent heart of Cold War West Berlin, at Zoo Station, you’ll follow the artist’s trail to the flat he shared with Iggy Pop, to the clubs where they partied, and to the legendary Hansa recording studios, where Bowie’s music reached its creative peak in Berlin. Your tour takes in a variety of sites, including Bahnhof Zoo, the former Dschungel Club, KaDeWe, Potsdamer Platz, Hansa Studios, the Berlin Wall, Topographie of Terror, Bowie’s former home, and the Neues Ufer Café.

Such a great fun tour, with so much Berlin history and so many locations and neighborhoods wrapped in. Also a good mix of must-sees, hidden finds, and alternatives to the crowded spaces. Like Bowie himself, it encompassed theater, music, social issues, art, film, queer culture…our guide had a sense of humor and a way to engage everyone. Unlike some special-interest tours, it gave us a good feel for the city and ideas for more to explore. We and our uni student daughters all agreed it was a highlight of the visit.

Our guide for this tour was an amazing guy called Dan. A genuine Bowie fan himself he spoke passionately the entire time we spent with him and offered great insight into David's time in Berlin. If you are a true Bowie fan this experience is definitely one you should try and take in if you can. You'll thoroughly enjoy yourselves and get to see so many other cool Berlin sights too. Even if only one of your party is David Bowie fanatic there is so much more to this tour to entertain you a long the way.

Really informative tour that showed us many interesting places visited by David Bowie during his time in Berlin and about the general history of the city in general. We covered a lot of ground by walking, bus and subway which stood us in good stead for having confidence to travel on our own in the days after the tour. Martin was friendly, professional and interesting and made our tour one of our highlights in Berlin.
