Full description
Travel north of Berlin by train and take a poignant guided tour of Sachsenhausen Memorial. See the remaining structures, learn of the site’s dark history, and take in emotive memorials dedicated to the camp’s victims. Witness what remains of the facilities that housed the guards, staff, and the prisoners. Enter at guard tower “A” and stand on the registration compound, before seeing the Jewish barracks, boot testing track, and gallows. Continue to the camp’s hospital and pathology laboratory before arriving at the grizzly Station Z building, which contained a crematorium and killing facilities Learn how the camp came to be during Nazi Germany, what conditions were like inside the camp during World War II, and how at last prisoners were liberated at the end of the war. While many of the camp’s stories are grim and heartbreaking, you will also hear inspiring tales of resistance and survival as you walk past commemorative monuments and plaques paying tribute to the camp’s victims and survivors.

Our tour guide, Steve from Australia, was very insightful and was able to give the tour in a meaningful manner. He was able to implement jokes when necessary to lighten the mood. He brought along an umbrella and a water mister for when we got too hot because it was scorching outside the day of our tour. I recommend this tour to everyone looking to visit the camp.

Xavier is really professional, he knows really well all about the history and not only what happened there, also what happened at the beginning of the creation of Germany. Thank you, I appreciate the importance that he gives to that place, I feel how passionate is it in the way that he speaks.

We had a great tour guide in Josh. He seemed passionate about telling the story of the camp, by portraying the resilience of human nature, through the artifacts in the museum. I thank him for his interest and for allowing our group to join his as our tour guide did not turn up. Thank you also to the lady who did the ringing around to get someone to be our guide, much appreciated.
