About the activity provider

Big Apple Jazz is the only tour company of its kind in New York City with a passion for seeking out the authentic hidden jazz haunts of Harlem & Greenwich Village. Gordon Polatnick founded this company in 1997 after a lifetime of world travel, and work as a tour guide throughout the Americas. His experiences include owning Harlem's first jazz day club, EZ's Woodshed; producing the Underground Big Apple Jazz Festival; managing jazz piano master, Jean-Michel Pilc; writing for jazz magazines; and walking across the USA for peace. Currently, Big Apple Jazz Tours welcomes individual jazz fans as well as corporate and school groups wishing to get off-the-beaten-path and down into the alley ways and basements where jazz music got started and still thrives. Our tours always include thrilling live jazz and fascinating sightseeing. "This tour, hosted by New York jazz expert Gordon Polatnick, is the real deal for jazz buffs." ~ Brian Silverman, Frommer's New York City 2013 & New York City For Dummies
