This full-day trip is the best way to discover the famous area of Transylvania, and it includes the most important and unique tourist attractions in Romania. Visit the beautiful Peles Castle, once the summer residence of the Romanian royal family; Bran Castle, also known as Dracula's Castle; and one of the most visited cities in Romania, Brasov. Our trip starts in Bucharest, and in about 2 hours you will be in Sinaia City, where you will visit Peles Castle, the summer residence of the first king of Romania, Carol I of Hohenzollern, of German origins. Peles Castle is a masterpiece of German New-Renaissance architecture, built in the late nineteenth century and considered by many to be one of the most stunning castles in Europe. Peles Castle was the first European castle entirely lit by electrical current. Was used as a summer residence by the Royal family for more than 50 years, and the original interior decoration is still intact. You will continue the day, and in about one hour of driving through the Carpathian Mountains, you will arrive at Bran Castle to learn about Vlad the Impaler. Also called Dracula's Castle, it is surrounded by an aura of mystery and legend and owes its fame to its imposing towers and turrets as well as to the myth created around Bram Stocker's Dracula. Along the way, the castle had a strategic mission as the border between Transylvania and Wallachia. Narrow, winding stairways lead through some 60 timber rooms, many connected by underground passages, which house collections of furniture, weapons, and armor dating from the 14th to the 19th centuries. Being surrounded by mountains, Brasov is home to one of the narrowest streets in Europe. The Rope street (Strada Sforii) is approximately four feet wide and was initially used as an access route by firefighters. Stroll around the old Town Hall Square (Piata Sfatului) and admire the trimmed baroque structures, then visit Black Church. Take a peek inside the Black Church (Biserica Neagra), the largest Gothic church in Romania. Step inside, and you’ll find a magnificent trove of cultural treasures.
