1. From Cancún: Boca Iglesia and Cabo Catoche Snorkel Tour
Get off the beaten track and discover 2 of Cancún's lesser-known destinations on this day trip. Start with a 40-minute speedboat trip to the northern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula, Cabo Catoche, where the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico meet. Enjoy an informative commentary from your guide about the area's unique plant and animal life, as well as an introduction to the history of the region. Travel back in time to when the Conquistadors and pirates roamed these waters, spotting flamingos and other birds along the way. Later, enjoy a brief hike through the jungle to reach Boca Iglesia, the first church in Latin America. Wander around this spooky church and its cemetery which are covered in trees. On the way back, stop at 2 snorkeling spots. Snorkel among colorful fish, an old shipwreck, and coral formations. Stop for a spot of relaxation on a shallow-water beach before heading back to Cancún.
