Full description

Drive away from the bustle of the city to admire how diverse and amazing the Turkish landscape is. On arrival to the rural area you will have a tea/coffee break in a local coffee house and the tour guide will provide you with general information about village life in Turkey. Visit a traditional village house to see the lifestyle of locals before going to the village mosque to learn about Islamic beliefs and customs. Then, meet a village chief and stop for a lunch at his house as you experience true Turkish hospitality and sample delicious local food. After lunch you will visit a carpet cooperative, where a short demonstration of carpets and kilims woven by village women ends your unforgettable day at the Bodrum countryside. You may buy some souvenirs, local goods, handicrafts and handmade kilims/carpets directly from the locals. Drive back to Bodrum for drop off at your hotel.

Apart from the manufacture and sale of the rugs (a considerable amount of time has been devoted to the demonstration and the "added value" of the rugs of this cooperative run by the family of the "guide"), none of the points of interest have been respected: No French speaking guide (contrary to the commitment on the reservation) No meeting with a village chief No lunch at the inhabitant but in a pseudo restaurant with dishes to the same taste consisting of vegetables cooked in sauce tomato and rice (typical menu was it written ????) Drink billed 5 times the normal price (yes 5 times: a can of pepsi is worth 2 lt in a mini-market: billed here: 10) To top it off, it's is on our insistence that we finally saw the mosque (or rather the small prayer hall) and like everything else without any religious, historical or sociological explanation. In short, we were seen as "blue cards" likely to buy rugs.

Nice introduction to rural life in Turkey.

It was very cool. Good food. Away from busy and super-warm Bodrum. Good guidance from a young student. Only downside: we had booked for another day, because we were the only bookers at the time, the trip was canceled. Outing shifted by 2 days.
