Explore one of the most unknown treasures in Portugal and discover the nature of Gerês-National Park during a small group tour. The itinerary can be altered to make the best of the weather conditions in winter and summer. Leave your accommodation in Porto in the morning and travel to the Gerês National Park in an air-conditioned Land Rover. During your exploration, if you're lucky, you might even see the wild horses (Garranos). Pinhão: Quinta do Bomfim Visit and Tasting

2. Pinhão: Quinta do Bomfim Visit and Tasting

Owned by the Symington family for five generations, Quinta do Bomfim features a winery, old wine cellar, and vineyard in the heart of the Upper Douro Valley. Visit the on-site museum and tour the grounds before choosing from a variety of family-made ports and wines to taste on the terrace. The tour begins in a small museum that tells the story of the property, the family, and the wines. A collection of early 20th century photographs of the Douro and documents highlight the history of the Quinta and the region. Afterward, choose between three vineyard walks, all of which offer excellent views of the surrounding mountain vineyards, some with dry stone terraces built by hand in the 18th and 19th centuries. Along the way, visit the old lodge built in 1896, one of the most significant structures in the Douro Valley. This vast vat and barrel cellar, with its complex roof structure, has been used for over 100 years to hold the ports from each harvest at the estate before they are taken downriver to Vila Nova de Gaia for further maturing. During the harvest, visitors can see the grapes being received at the winery and port being made in the lagares (troughs). At other times of the year, a short film is shown of the winery in operation and traditional treading at other Symington family vineyards. Later, choose from four wine tasting options: a Douro DOC tasting, port tasting, premium vintage tasting, or Dow's Old Tawnies tasting. Each offers a different collection of wines to taste. Head to the terrace and enjoy your tasting surrounded by scenic views of the Douro River and surrounding vineyards. Quinta do Bomfim is the birthplace of two of the 21st century’s most famous ports: First, Dow’s 2007 Vintage Port is the only vintage port made this century to have been awarded a perfect 100 points by the Wine Spectator. Secondly, Dow’s 2011 Vintage Port was nominated the “N°1 Wine in the World” in 2014 by the same influential publication.

Canyoning Tour in Portugal

3. Canyoning Tour in Portugal

Are you tired of the day-to-day? Are you looking for a burst of adrenaline? This is the ideal activity for you! Canyoning Adventure is one of the most challenging experiences you can have on the Portuguese mainland! This is where your emotions will be brought to the red, with up to 60 meter rappels, guided rappels to 30 meters in height and more than 40 meters long, with optional jumps that can surpass 11 meters. Find all of this in the longer canyoning routes from mainland Portugal. To accomplish this canyoning, for security reasons, it is a prerequisite to have done the Tobogã Canyoning Middle Level at least once and be considered by the Guidelines as "ready" to the next level of difficulty.

Braga: Roman Heritage City Exploration Game

4. Braga: Roman Heritage City Exploration Game

Explore Braga and its history and Roman heritage during an exciting city exploration game, all using an app on your phone. Here's a sneak peek to the storyline: “The year is 311. Turbulent times cast a shadow on the Roman Empire since the death of Constantius. The empire is divided as three men claim to be the rightful emperor, but only one can succeed...” As you solve challenges, the story unfolds and exact directions on your phone will guide you to the next location. Ready for an adventure? The city game starts at Balneário Pré-Romano de Bracara. It will take you around 1 to 1,5 hours to complete and you can also explore at your own pace: pause the game and resume anytime from the location where you paused it. You will finish at Largo Paulo Orósio. After your booking, you will receive an email with instructions on how to download and play the game on your phone. You can play on your own, in a large group or in several smaller groups that compete against each other and meet at the final stop of the game. We recommend that each user purchases a ticket for an optimal experience, although several people can share a phone.

What people are saying about Braga District

This tour was full of pulse-pounding moments for me: the anxiety of being driven along a narrow path along a steep mountain, the shock of jumping into a frigid lagoon beneath a waterfall, the hike back up the trail. Less "exciting" but still totally worth it were exploring the small town of Fafião, having a delicious lunch, and getting to know the other passengers on our tour. Miguel and Katarina were fantastic guides. Even though the afternoon was rainy, it was still a great experience overall, and one I'd recommend.

it was really good experience, to explore the national park in winter. we were lucky with the weather and one of the best guides (Renate). Renate was very knowledgeable as well as very enthusiastic in sharing the information. I'd really recommend the tour to everyone who wants to see the natural beauty of Portugal
