Full description
Brno is the second largest city in the Czech Rebublic. The city can be proud of its numerous landmarks, which are proof of its rich 800-year history. The city became historically important during the Thirty Year War, as it was the only town in Central Europe able to defend itself against the siege by the Swedish army. Functionalist architecture contributed to giving the city its modernist metropolis appearance.  You can choose from these three thematic walking tours: Functionalism in Brno with Villa Tugendhat Garden entrance:  Brno is known for its functionalist buildings with minimalist design. Take a closer look at the architecture with your expert guide. Visit the gardens of Villa Tugendhat and see buildings see buildings by Ludwig Mies van den Rohe, Bohuslav Fuchs, Ernst Wiesner and others. History and Architecture: This tour is designed for lovers of history. It is led by a historian guide who will introduce the history of Brno from the Middle Ages to the present day and the most important architectural buildings. Legends of Brno: On this tour you will get to know the old Brno in a fun way by learning more about the city's most famous old legends. Learn about the Brno dragon, the stone virgin, Baron Trenck, Capuchin mummies, and much more.

The walk was fun and interesting. Just a pity that there was not much to see about functionalism.

life-experienced city guide with classic architectural values

Quirky, older lady as a city guide - that was nice. Unfortunately, the subject of our tour - modernist buildings in Brno - was not professionally prepared by our city guide. For the rather high price, I expect more expertise and respect for this type of building. I think it would certainly be good and possible to work with the university and find better trained city guides from the field of architecture / history for this area. (Or to complement the busy older lady in her knowledge and understanding.) The modernist buildings are a jewel of the city of Brno and it would be good if a trained staff could convey this.

Terrible to forget immediately.

I have known every year by thread and by sign for four centenians but nothing useful. I saw 15 churches between baroque and gothic knew when who designed it was made but nothing useful. To forget immediately. I stopped following the fifth building and stopped the tour an hour earlier. I couldn't take it anymore
