Full description
This tour is the perfect way to visit one of the largest and most cherished cities of Romania. Being surrounded by the mountains (the perfect place for a medieval settlement) Brasov is one of the best preserved cities in Europe. Brasov provides a mix of wonderful mountain scenery in the nearby Poiana Braşov and medieval history with German influences in the old town. Peles Castle (the summer Royal residence), Rasnov Fortress and Bran (Dracula"s) Castle are other interesting locations that you will have the chance to visit by taking this tour. Day 1: Departure at 08:00 from Bucharest to Sinaia, also known as "The Pearl of the Carpathians". This is a beautiful mountain resort located in the Carpathian mountains at 800 meters altitude. Here you will visit  Sinaia Monastery (with the old and the new church) and Peles Castle, built by the first King of Romania, Carol I, to be a summer Royal residence. The castle has an impressive architectural style and built to be a very modern construction (for that time) being the first castle in Europe having electric power. From Sinaia, head to Brasov, an old medieval citadel, first documented in 1235, the most important commercial center from all the seven German Medieval Cities of Transylvania (Siebenbuergen). Visit the Old Town (the historical center) with Black Church, followed by dinner & accommodation. Day 2: After breakfast, visit the Cantacuzino Castle located in Busteni in Prahova Valley. The castle was built in a neo-Romanian style and inaugurated in 1911 at the wish of Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino. A park surrounds the castle with alleys taking you to the grotto, cascades, and fountains to be explored. The visit will be followed by lunch and visit to Bran (Dracula’s Castle). The medieval Castle Bran was built for military purposes in the end of the 14th century to defend the border between Transylvania and Wallachia, being associate with the “Legend of Dracula” the novel  by Bram Stoker. In the end of the day, return to Bucharest.

Excellent! Our guide was wonderful

We were picked up on time by a Sheban (hope I spelled it right) He shared his love of his country with us. Excellent tour and well prepared with all of the interesting facts. So interesting to see his country through his eyes. We could not be happier with our tour and at a very reasonable price.

Excellent tour en Translavanie, de deux jours à faire sans faute!

Notre guide, Michael, était des plus intéressants et très sympathique. Le temps a été superbe et seule la circulation a été problématique.
