      Know before you go

      • Your GetYourGuide voucher must be exchanged for the physical Budapest card before use
      • Citizens of Hungary or other EU, EEA Member States or Switzerland, aged 65+ can use the public transportation in Budapest free of charge with an identity card or passport
      • The 72-hour Budapest Card Junior, for children aged between 6-18, needs to be proved by photo ID
      • The services included in the Budapest Card can only be used after the card has been validated with a signature and a starting date on the back. The cards are valid for 24/48/72/96/120 hours from the exact time (hour) of the first use. The free services and discounts can be obtained during the period of validity

      Budapest card is definitely worth buying but you need to plan your trip well, to not feel like you are missing out on what is included, meaning We felt stressed we couldn't do it all, budapest is huge and amazing full of things to see and do. Its handy to have the free public transport included in the card, we did some museums included too and it had a guide tours included but we didn't see that until it started so we missed it.

      Map for all public transport in Budapest. Then you do not have to worry about buying tickets for bus and train You can book before the trip. You can exchange vouchers at the airport for Budapest card. This also applies to transport from the airport and into the city center. Bus 200E and change to metro. The bus runs almost around the clock.

      You can use all public transport. Discount or free admission to attractions. Free shuttle to airport! Was afraid it wouldn't work, but with 1 phone call everything was arranged, and the taxi was on time. Super! Unfortunately, when picking up the card, we did not receive a notification that metro line 3 is out of order. It would have been helpful if they had said that. Also the bus line 27 to the Citadelle was not running. Citadel was under renovation, but this has not been said either. Too bad, we searched for the bus for a while, until a nice man told us it wasn't driving, and it wouldn't be worth going to the Citadel now. Everything would also be closed.
