Full description

Sit back and relax on a catamaran cruise from Cairns to the Great Barrier Reef, where you enjoy a raft of water activities from Moore Reef's pontoon. Encounter an outstanding landscape of marine life, enjoy a choice of activities including snorkeling, including a visit to the underwater observatory.

Prior to departure from the marina, sip on some complimentary tea and coffee. Depart from Cairns’ Marlin Marina at 9:30 AM and enjoy a cruise out of the harbor. Witness the stunning landscape before the catamaran makes its way out to open seas.

Sail in air-conditioned comfort onboard the catamaran to the state-of-the-art activity pontoon at Moore Reef. Moore Reef is a prime location on the Outer Great Barrier Reef, abundant with soft corals and marine life. Learn about the reef and its diverse ecosystems on the outward journey with presentations given by resident marine experts. Upon arrival at the pontoon at 11:30 AM, choose from an array of activities suitable for both swimmers and non-swimmers alike. Make use of the inclusive snorkeling equipment, with wetsuits and lycra also available at an additional charge. Alternatively, watch the daily fish feeding presentations, or take a trip on the glass bottom boat or semi-submersible tour with marine experts providing commentary. Great snorkeling experience. If you can’t swim, I say don’t bother with this activity and just go to an aquarium instead. The glass bottom boat and semi sub were okay but for the price offered, I don’t think it’s good value the snorkel is experience is by far better). Went with a non-swimming friend and I personally felt like it didn’t do much for them. But if you snorkel, this is an amazing experience ! Definitely the highlight of my trip!

Overall a very fun experience with many activities available to pick from. We didn’t book any of the snorkelling tours or scuba diving but it’s not necessary since you’ll be able to see the coral and fish up close by snorkelling off the pontoon yourself. The staff were amazing and friendly, however the pontoon could be expanded to accommodate all the passengers on board the cruise boat since it got a bit crowded when everyone was offloaded onto the pontoon. The buffet lunch was also decent, nothing amazing but somewhat fulfilling. The main highlight was definitely the snorkelling experience, it was very easy and fun to snorkel off the pontoon and you could see all the coral and fish up close, under the watch of lifeguards. Would definitely recommend booking with Sunlover Reef Cruises.

I was overwhelmed by which tour to book but I am glad I went with Sunlover Reef Cruises. The staff were very friendly and informative. I was nervous about snorkelling however once I got there I felt safe to go in the water. Life jackets, snorkels and stinger suits were provided. We all really enjoyed the activities on the pontoon, we got carried away snorkelling and didn’t end up going on the glass boat. This option is great for those that do not want to get wet! The slide was also a fun activity not just for kids! Some of my family members purchased the additional scuba diving activity and absolutely loved it! I would suggest to bring your own underwater camera or GoPro as the cost of the images they take is quite costly. Other than that I would definitely recommend this tour and I will do it again when I come back to cairns!
