Full description

Depart for the archaeological site of Chichen Itza between 07:10 AM and 08:10 AM and prepare yourself for a 2.5-hour historical tour of the most famous of the ancient cities of the Yucatec Maya. Named one of the New 7 Wonders of the World in 2007, Chichen Itza was once one of the largest cities of the Mayan civilization and thought to be one of the most mystical.

See the stunning pyramid Temple of Kukulkan and marvel at the row of columns in the Temple of a Thousand Warriors.

Look at the observatory temple of "El Caracol" and continue to highlights such as the sacrificial pit of the Great Ball Court, where the ancient ball game of "pok-ta-pok" was played. Enjoy some free time to explore on your own. Then, take a refreshing swim in the cenote of Ik-Kil and experience an underground lake on one of the subterranean river systems sacred to the Mayans.

Enjoy lunch before driving to Valladolid, where you will spend about 30 minutes in the 16th-century colonial city before the return journey and drop off at your hotel between 06:30 and 07:30 PM.

Very enjoyable trip as long as you come prepared. Bring snacks because “lunch” is around 3:00.. The cenote was beautiful and refreshing after the 2 plus hour tour at Chichén Itzá. The guides were amazing and very informative with extensive cultural knowledge. We might come back again with our teenagers next time.

Carlos and Jose did a good job! The drive going and coming back was smooth. Carlos is knowledgeable about history and culture. He always managed to get the group going and kept our group ahead of the other tour buses so we’re not clumped with a big crowd of other travelers The first stop was souvenir shops. For lunch a choice of pork or chicken tacos was included but you have to pay for beverages. We got bottled water and coconut juice for $10. I gave $20 but didn’t get the change… it’s probably my fault because I didn’t understand the server. Inside the grounds of Chichen Itza is peppered with vendors trying to haggle. The noise from some vendors is distracting when you’re trying to listen to the ground tour. The place is an archeological treasure. Vendors should have a designated areas only( my honest opinion only). In Cenote, like I said Carlos was great in getting us there before all the crowd. Yay!!
