After a bumpy start at the check point in Playa del Carmen with waiting time, our tour guide Adrian, on the other hand, was super nice, warm and accommodating! We had an incredibly great stay in Bacalar with a great boat trip and several stops on the lake. The long journey was more than worth it!

Quick tick off of program

Pickup at our hotel lobby next to Akumal was at 8:30. We were driven in an overcrowded uncomfortable van to a kind of distribution place where all people were allocated to the final bus for the respective excursion. This took about an hour before we finally got started. The new bus at least was comfortable. Arriving in Bacalar the boattrip (ca. 2 hours) through the Lagoon started, it was quite nice, but very touristic with many other boats at the same time. After that there was an extended lunch and then it was too latemto visit Bacalar, we had just 15 minutes in front of the castle. Apparently it was too late and our tourguide Tanja wanted to get home. Getting back we were dropped off outside the hotel premise "as it was so late" (19:30). We booked the tour in english, but the bilingual explanations were focused on spanish. We think Bacalar is a place worth visiting, but not this tour.
