From Rome: Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius Volcano Full-Day Trip

1. From Rome: Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius Volcano Full-Day Trip

Travel from Rome to Pompeii in an air-conditioned private bus, accompanied by an archaeologist guide. Benefit from skip-the-line entry and enjoy a guided tour of the ancient city. Throughout the ruins, come across a death cast, a plaster recreation of an unfortunate citizen preserved by the superheated volcanic ash. After visiting Pompeii, drive up the slope of Mt. Vesuvius, (from April to mid-November), one of Europe’s few active volcanoes located in the Vesuvius National Park. From here, take a short hike up to the steaming crater for stunning views of Capri and Sorrento. During the winter season between November and March, Mt. Vesuvius is closed, so your tour will follow the coastline and take you to the city of Naples. Explore the iconic Castle Nuovo, the famous art deco Umberto I Gallery, or simply wander around the monumental Plebiscito Square.

What people are saying about Castel Nuovo

Wow what a day! Emiliano was our group guide for the trip, knowledgeable yet funny and kept the whole day going. It is long! We did Vesuvius 1st and then onto Pompeii. Vesuvius is a hard slog and really quite physical, there are no short cuts, only your determination and hard work! Pompeii was amazing, we were handed over to a very knowledgeable local guide and given a headset to hear him through the walk through tour, he stopped regularly for photos, explaining what everything was and to answer any questions. Brilliantly set up, easy to find the tour at the meeting point and well looked after all day with suggestions for lunch and plenty of breaks. Would highly recommend.

Everything went smoothly. It was a big day but well worth it. The coach guide, Franchesco, was brilliant, giving clear instructions on the day's itinerary, and facts on the journey about Italy, Rome and Napoles. The walk up to Vesuvius was about 1 mile to the top from the coach. amazing views. Our Pompeii guide was excellent. However, we did want to see the artefacts at the end. We asked if it was possible to have 10 mins to have a quick look at the cast victims and treasures. I know they are on a time schedule, and it was good to have chance to do this. The driver was great, we stopped for coffee, snacks and the toilet halfway which was needed.

A long but very doable day. The coach journey is broken up there and back with a stop where they sell delicious donuts! Pompeii is very interesting - our 11 year old said it was her favourite trip of our stay in Rome. Mount Vesuvius gave spectacular views. The climb is tiring though - definitely not to be taken lightly if you struggle with fitness. The day was well organised and we had fantastic guides - both with us on the coach and for Pompeii.

What an amazing day so many things seen within the day ,the guide was awesome.so knowledgeable and funny. We seen the main parts of Pompeii and managed to get to the top of Vesuvius but felt rushed as only had approx hour and half to get up and back down to the coach (that was the only bad part but I did it so ticked off my bucket list )

Angela was a great tour guide along with the local guide at Pompeii. Also our bus driver was amazing on the windy Italy streets.
