  • Stabiae: Guided Tour with an Archaeologist

    2. Stabiae: Guided Tour with an Archaeologist

Stabiae was buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. and the site was declared an archaeologically protected area in 1957. By 1962, many of the ruins had been uncovered. In recent times, the excavations have revealed two famous Roman villas, Villa San Marco and Villa Arianna, with frescoes, statues, sculptures and mosaics similar to those already found in Pompeii and Herculaneum. Among the numerous villas of the Stabiae archaeological residential area, only the Villa San Marco and Villa Arianna can be visited. It was a great day trip !! Was punctual but meeting point was a little confusing at first. The guides were very organized beside that. The guide in Pompeii and sorrento were both amazing. Elisa and Alex. My dad enjoyed every bit of it. The guides were very knowledgeable and also fun. They were very patient regardless how big the group was. FYI if you want a private one on one tour this is not it but this is totally worth the money spent.

Francesca was thouroughly knowledgeble on Pompeii unstumpable

Francesca was thouroughly knowledgeble on Pompeii and was never stumped by odd or unusual questions. She seem to anticipate what we wanted before we asked. She was calm and cool even in the 42C heat. I would recommend this tour. Manuela, our guide in Sorrento knew all the good spots to shop in the small town especially the best gelato (Primavera!) and the best limoncello spots.
