Full description

Hike to the top of the highest active volcano in Europe with a guide on this tour in an all-terrain vehicle from Belpasso. Discover views from the summit craters, explore a lava tunnel, and ride above Mt. Etna aboard a cable car.

Meet your guide in Belpasso and ride in the comfort of a 4x4 minibus to the cable car. Soar over lunar-like landscapes as you reach an altitude of 2900 meters in the Torre del Filosofo area. Hike uphill to reach the edge of the central crater.

Observe the Bocca Nuova, a crater that opened in 1968 and is one of the area's most impressive craters. Travel around the Bocca Nuova until you find yourself on the edge of the Voragine, the heart of the central crater.

Wander to the top and enjoy a 360° views and if the weather allows, see alal the way to the Aeolian islands and almost all of northern Sicily. Descend the mountain and pass through the craters of the 2002 eruption.

Walk inside a lava tunnel and admire the volcanic amphitheater of Valle del Bove, a spectacular 8 km long and 4 km wide caldera. Return to the cable car arrival station at the end of the tour, at an altitude of 2500 and transfer back to Belpasso.

Amazing experience with an excellent guide!! Highly recommended! However, bare in mind that it is quite a long hike (4 hours with frequent stops) and at times it was seriously windy. Don’t forget to check the weather on top of Etna. If you are a moderate hiker, it will definitely be the highlight of your trip in Sicily!

Experience to do if you are in the area ... it is not safe to take a walk but it is worth it with what you will see up there .. the guides Luca and Giuseppe are very good at explaining and are attentive to the whole group, even to those who struggle more ( like my daughter) They provide you with free boots, jackets and everything else you need.

Absolutely perfect, really top, Marco and Peppe guided us super well, Sophie contacted us the day before for the latest details. Truly one of the best experiences we had in Sicily. Great memories. Thank you. Note that the excursion was planned for the morning, but because of a very violent storm nothing was possible in the morning, they offered to postpone us for the end of the afternoon + sunset on Etna and descent under the stars, and Well I think it was even better that way!!!
