Following the Footsteps of César Manrique: Four Art Centers

1. Following the Footsteps of César Manrique: Four Art Centers

César, a multidisciplinary artist, painter, sculptor, conservator of monuments and tourist resorts, designer of landscapes and gardens, and recognized ecologist, created from natural volcanic accidents a tendency that impacted the world. He managed to unite Art, Urbanism and Tourism in a single concept, under a philosophy and model of urban intervention based on sustainability and respect for the natural values of the territory, into what is now a world reference. The Island would be different without the Monument to the Peasant, Los Jameos del Agua, Mirador del Río, Cactus Garden or the Cave of the Greens. It would certainly be less attractive and with much less personality. Not visiting these Centers and works of art, being able to interpret them, is like not even having travelled here. This tour offers you the opportunity to discover the North of Lanzarote having a panoramic of Haría, Riscos de Famara and Volcán de la Corona. You will have the privilege to visit the art centers of Cesar Manrique such as Monument to the Peasant, Cactus Garden, Mirador del Río and Fundación César Manrique. Choose if you wish to visit Jameos del Agua or Cueva de los Verdes, two marvelous art centers which are a must in your visit to Lanzarote.

Lanzarote: César Manrique Foundation and Teguise Market

2. Lanzarote: César Manrique Foundation and Teguise Market

Discover this fantastic excursion to the César Manrique Foundation and the Market of the royal town of Teguise every Sunday. Accompanied by a local guide we will visit "The César Manrique Foundation”, the home and workshop of the great artist. It dazzles above all for its architecture. Much of this unusual dwelling is embedded in one of the longest lava flows on the islands. Natural lava walls and their curious shapes were his residence for two decades and inspiration for his creations that made Manrique a unique artist. Free time in Teguise. It was the capital of Lanzarote until the year 1852. It then became Arrecife due to its status as a seaport, with Teguise becoming the second most important city in Lanzarote. Apart from enjoying the old town, on Sundays it hosts a market where you can enjoy local cuisine, handicrafts and souvenirs among many other things...

A really fantastic opportunity to see Cesar Manrique's work. Plenty of time to look at it and appreciate it. Really loved the cave and the house and cactus garden. You also saw a lot of the island therefore not having to do some of the other tours. There is a lot of steps and if you're not able to walk too far maybe not for you. A fantastic experience and worth the money. The guide was also very knowledgeable and helpful. My father and I really enjoyed it. Thank you.

A uniquely well organized tour with a very good guide. Lots of information along the way. We particularly liked the long and sufficient length of stay during the visits. Even the entrance fees were included. We actually wanted to do this round with a rental car, but we couldn't get one at short notice. So we decided to do a bus tour, which was a perfect (even better) alternative for us.

Amazing locations and philosophy of the artist. Lunch is available for 10€ extra, buffet all you can eat. Nice guide and chaffeur :)

Excellent guides, great bus drivers. Very well planned and executed! Was really fun!

Great experience, seen a lot in the footsteps of César Manrique.
