From Souda Port of Chania: Private Sailing Cruise with Meal

3. From Souda Port of Chania: Private Sailing Cruise with Meal

At 9:30 AM sail east out of the bay past the Souda Fortress on a small uninhabited island. If the winds are favorable stop to take a dip or some photos at the pebbled beach of the scenic white chapel of Agiannis. Follow the coast on the wind and marvel at views of the Ottoman fort high up on the hills and the fort of the Idjedin prison just below it. Continue past the seaside villages of Kalyves and Almyrida, around the Isle of Karga before reaching the lighthouse on the peninsula of Drapano. Again, if the gods of the winds are with you the boat will anchor in a tiny, secret cove for another quick swim. The wind will dictate if the boat sails northeast to a very small cove with beautiful sandy waters or otherwise northwest around another small island to a beautiful lagoon. Either way, the White Mountains (Lefka Ori) will be in view, serving as the backdrop to the cruise. After dropping anchor, enjoy a swim or snorkel and play in crystal clear turquoise waters while a freshly cooked Cretan/Spartan lunch is prepared with Greek specialties such as local pasta, sautéed vegetables, fresh salad, mama’s olives, goat cheese and fresh bread with wine and beer to wash it down and a dessert of fresh yogurt and sweet fruit.  Following a relaxing meal sail back to the port as the sun starts to set, arriving back by around 5:30 PM. Even if you’ve never sailed before have a go at taking control of the boat with expert supervision for a roughly 30 nautical mile trip.

Cretan South Coast: Private Adventure Tour

8. Cretan South Coast: Private Adventure Tour

Get out of town and venture off the beaten path to the southern coast of Crete. You’ll meet your guide and begin your Chania tour by taking a private vehicle towards a local village, away from the usual tourist areas. Upon reaching the small sleepy village by sea, you will start your adventure with a light organic breakfast with local products. Then, you will kick off your walk to the ancient city of Lissos. After an easy trail in the shaded palm trees, you can walk up a hill that boasts amazing views of the gorge beneath and the sea in the distance. Where the rocks meet the sea, you will find the ruins of the ancient Asclepieion (a healing temple dedicated to god Asclepius) built in the 3rd century B.C. This walk is fairly easy and along a trail. It will take about 90 minutes (including stops), with elevations of 250m upwards and almost 400m down. Once you reach the historic city of Lissos, you will have an hour to walk amongst the ruins and drink from the gushing healing spring water at the foundation of the Asclepieion - the reason Lissos was so famous in the ancient world. Then, we will embark on a fishing boat from the small peddled beach to continue your exploration of the south coast. In half an hour you will arrive at a sandy beach with fine pebbles. You have two hours to dive into the crystal clear waters or relax under the sun with some fresh fruit. Next stop is a quaint remote village where you’ll enjoy a 3-course farm-to-table local menu with local wine. In the evening, before you depart for Chania, you can independently explore the promenade, as well as the streets in the coastal town of Paleochora. Top organization, great guide and uniquely beautiful beach in Elafonisi! Postcard feeling guaranteed! When we arrived it was even emptier. There was a stop on the way there and back. Personally, I wouldn't have needed it, but there was a great view in a canyon. Overall it was a great day !!

What a day!! Captain Nikos was amazing. He made us feel very comfortable. I would HIGHLY recommend this trip to anyone who wants to have a wonderful, relaxing day on the water.

It was a well-organizied bustour with small stops on the way. They were always on-time and we had enough time at all stops (cave, beach and the restaurant as well)

The beach is very beautiful, but stay a little short time, completely reluctant to go

Great beach even that Pink sand was just a little.
