1. Heraklion & Mallia: Bus Road Trip to Samaria Gorge

Your full-day excursion to Samaria Gorge begins with pickup in Heraklion and a drive to Omalos, in the heart of the White Mountains, where you can enjoy breakfast before you begin your hike. The trek will take you over rocks and stones, through a forest of thousand-year-old trees and along a river by fresh-water springs. Along the way, you’ll have spectacular views of Crete’s most beautiful mountain range, and you are also likely to see mountain goats roaming in the wild. You will be accompanied by a professional mountain escort who speaks English, German and Greek. Your escort will be there to explain all the necessary information about your hike and provide you with the tickets for the entrance and ferry. After your breakfast you will enter the Samaria Gorge, where you can walk at your own pace as your guide waits at the end of the group to help you out if you need them. At the end of the trek you’ll visit the village of Agia Roumeli, where you’ll find a number of taverns, bars, and shops. You can enjoy some free time to take a swim or have some lunch. I can only recommend the organization or the online platform GetYourGide. Uncomplicated, bookable from home, everything worked out. Information was received by email in good time before the trip, and everything else met what was agreed. The experience itself was also super nice, even if the day was very long with 10-12 hours, but you prepare for it. The food on the ship was good, there were also cocktails, etc. We had read the comments in advance and were walking with sturdy shoes. However, many people on the ship came in pines and then had problems walking over the stony paths when docking in Balos. So I ask myself: "Can't people read?" Therefore, when hopping from the ship to Balos, there were long queues that could have been avoided because people simply couldn't walk. Sturdy shoes are advisable here! I can recommend this experience, VG Simone

The bus driver and guide were great and the guide pointed out many spots along our drive to Elafonisi and spoke about the history of the island. It is a long day (pickup at 6:30am, drop off after 7pm) but it was a great way to get to Elafonisi if you don't plan on driving there and we got to spend 5 hours at Elafonisi which was amazing. The bus ride there was comfortable but it did not have a toilet and there is only 1 stop on the way there so just be prepared for that.

Amazing trip, highly recommended! It is a great way to see both beautiful beaches if you are short on time. Our tour guide was wonderful and we had an amazing time. Make sure to take water and running shoes as there is a pretty long hike down the mountain to get to Balos

You pay just for the guide + bus, the gorge entry & boat tickets need to be payed additionally in the bus (which btw had some problems that day and we had to switch to the other one). The experience in Samaria was excellent tho and would recommend it to anyone!

Omg!!! So beautiful that it takes your breath away!!
