Chiang Mai: Historical Temples Small Group Half-Day Tour

1. Chiang Mai: Historical Temples Small Group Half-Day Tour

The charming city of Chiang Mai is a mix of atmospheric temples and sleepy streets. Spend a half-day exploring this city’s best temples with a knowledgeable guide.   Start at Wat Phra Singh, a 700-year-old temple often described as the city’s most beautiful. Inside, find an enormous “Lion Buddha”, as well as guilded pagodas, murals, and statues. Then, visit Wat Chedi Luang, the largest Buddhist temple in the heart of Chiang Mai. Built in 1441, this crumbling chedi is surrounded by striking elephant and serpent statues, who guard the temple.   Wat Suan Dok is known for its countless white stupas (meditation structures) and its stunning scenery, including its backdrop of Doi Suthep Mountain. It’s thought that a tooth from the Buddha himself is enclosed at the temple’s heart.   Finally, visit Wat Chiang Man, Chiang Mai’s oldest temple, which dates back to 1296. The gleaming gold chedi is seriously impressive, but the atmospheric flower garden that doubles as a fantastic photo spot is also worth a visit.

Our tour guide understands our interest and our needs. Mr Anan explained to us the history and arts revolving the architecture of the different temples. We were able to appreciate the modern art in designing and building of the different temples. The driver works very well with him. They did not press us on time and allowed us to immersed in the beauty of the golden triangles, and even a thorough reading through the exhibits in the opium museum. As a result, we had to make our way back to Chiang Mai Hotel late. The driver was very experienced and careful in driving in the difficult areas. Overall, we were very satisfied snd happy and we booked another tour with the company pontourchiangmai.

Our whole trip was amazing, our guide Tas was great at explaining and answering all of our questions, he took us with to every site and we adjusted also to our needs. Both him and the driver were very nice during the car rides which were sometimes long, but it was OK the longest ride was the ride back yo Chiang Mai. We had great food we asked him to give us Thai food and not the European type food that he offered in the beginning. We wanted a more local experience a d that is what we got, even though we visited really popular and touristic places. The experience overall was great.

It was a great trip. We had an excellent and thoughtful driver with “Man” and with “Jackie” an uncomplicated, funny, competent and very communicative tour guide. He was able to convey not only the individual highlights but also a lot about the country and its people. It was good that we did the 2 day tour, so we just had a relaxed time and never felt rushed.
