There wasn't any commentary so you won't necessarily know what you are passing but it was a very pleasant journey. Took about four hours to get there (which my daughter found a little too long, I enjoyed it though!) Service on board the boat in terms of food and drink was excellent. We had about 3 hours in Koenigswinter, which we chose to spend by taking the cog railway up to the top of Drachenfels and exploring up there. We both really enjoyed that and had a very welcome drink at the restaurant before taking the cog railway back down again. The boat back to Cologne only took about 2 and a half hours which my daugher found much more manageable and really enjoyed.

Beautiful boat trip and cogwheel train Drachenfels up brings you to beautiful views, which can be combined with Drachenburcht and Zoo on the mountain. Königswinter itself is also a nice place, despite many tourists. Staff on board nice! Food and drink also good. Minuses of our boat (MS De Beethoven): 1. The toilet on the ground floor (= level where you enter I believe) is, in our opinion, intended for the disabled (because otherwise people with rollators and wheelchairs have to go down the stairs for the regular toilets , which is not possible). There was a sticker on it saying you weren't allowed in. And there was a cleaning cart, dirty clothing from staff and cleaning products. Unless there is a disabled toilet. My 87-year-old mother, although still quite able to walk, always had to go all the way down! 2. Outside on deck there were not many places in general and on the upper deck only some loose chairs and standing tables. With so many people on board, that could be a bit more.

The day trip by boat from Cologne to Königswinter and back later was an unforgettably beautiful experience for me and my girlfriend. The calm gliding on the Rhine, right and left the skylines, very impressive. The food on the KD-Beethoven was very tasty, and the price-performance ratio was also right. The service was friendly and funny. This tour is recommended.
